With the statement about the goverment killing someone in custody (worrying about the state having too much power) I can understand your point but we have to remember that it's not just one guy that we're putting away. we're putting away a bunch of people and having them all housed and fed every year all year long.
The only reason why the death penalty cost more is because of all that extra stuff they do.
I mean if a guy commits mass murder and we know it's guy because we saw him do it. there really shouldn't be any reason to put him away for life.
I'm thinking from a practical standpoint when it comes to housing criminals and the cost that its putting on the state.
I kinda get what you both are trying to say. To be honest, I can't even pick a side if you were to ask who I'd side with. But from what I see, your president seems to be on a killing spree. But then again, I've no clue about how rotten the people your president had killed, so I can't say anything much more than that.

A "war"? Well not in the sense that US is fighting it. If anything, it just seems like the US is creating some cartels.
But at the same time legalizing everything could lead to a dangerous path for different criminal activity, one that could disrupt the international community.
Of course, I agree with you. I don't suggest legalizing it. But I believe the government (especially US Government) should have a different approach towards drugs.
Treating the people that uses drugs as a criminal? Really? From past experience over here, if I had a joint or two, and I was being searched by the police, they'd probably let me off with an official warning, at worst. At best would be them telling me not to do it in front of kids. They wouldn't even bother asking me where I got my stash from unless they have a warrant.
