It's a lot more fun to play with people when your around the same level.
I also enjoy seeing my sisters play games like GTA for example, since they just run around killing hookers etc. They don't play games that often so they enjoy going all out.

My older sister bought my ps3 and games. So she plays gta etc when she got friends over. They play The Sims more often tho but i do that myself too

The Sims is fun imo, have you never been in a group in the midle of the night playing the sims and overreacting to stupid things happening ingame?

No, the groups I knew were never into Sims. Mostly Halo.
