The state of documentary making appears to be parlous. Allow me to list one or two reasons why the word "documentary" appears to be repellent amongst the general population, of which it can be safely assumed that they have common sense:
1. They are jealous and bitter about the fact that someone's voice is better sounding than theirs. And what is worse about that is that the majority of the time, you can't see their faces and all of the time, you can't reach into the screen and force them to stop blabbering things that they can't understand. Which brings us to the second point.
2. They are blabbering things the general audience can't understand. The news is like the documentaries, totally anger inducing but there is the distinction. At least the news appears to be relevant. What does talking about things that happened thousands of years ago have to do with any sane person who is obsessed with the present and the future? What does talking about some remote part of the Earth where near extinct creatures roam accomplish? Is it the fact that we can't see them anymore even though the animal that we come across the most frequently is the bypassing pigeon that does its business on my head from time to time?
Oh yes. I am going off topic am I?
Bump.
