Another thing she recommended to me. I finally watched it... and god damn I'm so mad.
I understand that the message of the anime is to accept the past as it was but... Takaki, don't spout that bs to me. Yeah, at that junction, there was nothing else you could do. That is true. But what about the time you spent in Kagoshima? You even got a cell phone, you should've asked for Akari's number ffs. Or going a lil more backwards, you seriously should've told her you wanna see her again. Tell her it won't end there, that you'd come for her etc etc. There was nothing you could do (strictly speaking, still some options but let's keep this to the honorable choices) when she married someone else but what about the years you had until that time? Why fuck around with Sumida when you clearly want nothing of her? Or Mizuno? You messed up others' hearts and messed up yours in the process. That's no way to love. Maybe it's understandable if you sacrificed others, inflict pain on them FOR Akari's sake, but nopes. You hurt them, hurt yourself, and you did nothing for the person you love, you surrendered her to some other man. I do not approve.
Yes, we do need to accept what's lost is lost, nothing we can do about it, don't live in the past, move on etc etc. But that's no excuse to not struggle. Until you truly lose her, until you prove that it's utterly impossible for you without losing even more important things to get her, then you don't spout anything like "We can't be together". I'm seriously questioning your love for Akari now. I think it's half-assed.
5 cm/s, Y U MADE ME MAD. Also Luv, again the thing you recommended is just so good. Love you dear. >:
I have the movie on my HDD. Will have to watch it soon and start a followup discussion when we can.
