Dude that thread was dead for like 6 months. I added this and BOOM! active again. This was what I wrote:
What I got from GSD was that it was almost the same as GS. When I first watched GSD I was under the impression that Shinn was the main character but until episode 14 was when I realized that Kira was going to compete with Shinn for the main character role. Also from what I can understand, the SEED series was suppose to be a tribute to the UC series and in my opinion, was done rather horribly. From both series there was too much unnecessary drama especially in SEED and to me it made me feel like I was watching a soap opera rather than a military mecha anime. GSD (supposedly a Zeta Gundam tribute) failed miserably at the end. Shinn, the supposed main character, was thrown away for Kira just to further his ridiculous ideal of stopping battles with his hax skills. In Zeta Gundam, Kamille Bidan (Shinn's equivalent) was always the main star even though Amuro (Kira's equivalent and the previous star of MSG) made reappearances in Zeta. Even though Amuro was around for a while, there was never any doubt that Kamille was the star. While in GSD, Shinn and Kira always fought for the main role and Shinn keeps shifting from hero to villain depending on who he was fighting (Against EF = hero, Against Kira = villain). As far as character development goes, the old cast from GS didn't need to be reintroduced. Maybe an exception can be made for Athrun and Cagalli because they were already in the beginning where the series started. In the end, most of the new GSD characters were tossed aside so that the GS cast can further their unneeded development. What's with Kira's thinking about stopping battles that take place just by coming out of the blue and smacking everyone helpless just so they stop. To me it's a rather stupid decision on his part because he's doing nothing but provoking conflict and causing opposing forces to hate him even more. As for the mecha, I believe I speak for everyone when I say that Freedom/Strike Freedom is way TOO overpowered. The Freedom only got touched once (got shot, lost a limb, etc.) when Shinn attacked it using tactics. When SF got introduced, well that's it, Kira's machine will never be touched again which I say is completely ridiculous and completely one sided for Kira. Would it be too much to ask for some realism here? It would be more realistic if SF lost maybe one or two limbs but no Fuduka decided to make SF a superhero mech. Last time I remember, Gundam SEED was suppose to be a real robot military mecha anime not a superhero mecha. After watching SF going into battle, I just got bored because I already knew the outcome of the battle with SF yet again dismembering the limbs of the helpless cannon fodders without even trying. The epic battle at the end of the series was nothing more than a prolonged version of SF fight with grunt units. The powerful GSD duo Shinn and Rey fell helpless against Kira and Athrun which seemed pointless considering how they were able to destroy 6 Destroy Gundams by themselves without trying but fail to even and I'm being nice here, scrape SF's foot or even Infinite Justice. The clip shows are also one of the biggest problems because there was always some sort of flashback in every episode and not to mention there were at least 2 complete clip episodes in GSD which did nothing but waste time. The ending was nothing more than a remake of GS and everything was rushed. Episode 50 was nothing more than a complete joke to me. Watching a complete one-sided battle and seeing how Zaft got beat by Kira's band of hax friends made me go...WTF?! I'll admit, the beginning had lots of potential and could have been better but half way through just looked like no one cared about the series anymore. I will give the SEED series credit for having such awesome looking Gundams like the Destiny Gundam and the SF but I would have to give thumbs down for the characters and the plot of the story. Again since the SEED series was suppose to be a tribute to the UC series, I would have to say that this was done rather horribly because of the wasted potential the SEED series had.
I used to like it but the ending for GSD was iffy when I first saw it. I saw the SEED series before the UC series. When I watched Zeta, I was like... WTF?! Destiny copied Zeta... God I HATE Kira and his hacked friends and that ANNOYING Freedom/SF!
