So, how are we liking the changes?
I may or may not be running the next game, but I'd like some feedback, all the same. (yay, ryhme)
I dunno; I find the ambiguous round starting point you make is oddly hilarious and also makes it so people have to really pay attention if they want to be early posters in a round, but I can also see this being really annoying for people who aren't in a setting where they can stare at a page and refresh for a whole hour, so it goes both ways.
As nice as the sixth slot rule goes, I can't speak for everyone, but I don't really see how it can be utilized by someone who might be making unpopular claims like I feel I do and I'm sure many others can relate. If I try and branch out to other series' to get the extra slot I'd be making a claim I don't really care to have just to get a sixth slots; like I'm spending a slot to gain a slot. It seems to more favor popular series' greatly. The rule also allows a lot of claims to be made very early on so some series might run out of prime characters in the first few rounds if enough people liked a series.
That's just my impressions so far. Who knows what will happen later; I may very well be wrong on all fronts.
Well, the hour start time is because I have no set schedule, so I myself am unsure of exactly when I can/will start the round off.
And the reason why I can't simply let people start on their own is twofold-
1. When Waar ran the game, the thread was locked- it was actually impossible to make a post before he did.
2. As gamehost, I feel it more appropriate for me to be around so I can
smack a bitch give overzealous and discordant individuals a sharp rap on the knuckles when they do what is not allowed.
And- yes, from what we've seen- the sixth slot rule does greatly favour the popular and mainstream. That can either serve as a good or a bad thing, so I'm still on the fence with which direction I'd like to take it.
On the one hand- it can make the game much more competitive; because not only would you want to snag an A-list waifu, but grabbing one also nets you a greater chance of earning the bonus.
If we can draw more people to the game, I think that element can really make it fun.
But on the other hand- for those with more niche interests- there is virtually no chance of gaining that bonus, save for dedicated effort.
It's tough to come up with a sixth slot rule that doesn't clearly favour one party over the other- and I won't do a lotto, because I find random chance to be rather boring.
