I guess I should like, make a proper introduction.
So here's my story. I cleaned this
THING over the last few days, and posted it on 4chan's /h/, and the response was pretty good. And since I've spent so much time lurking on fakku, but never really created account or posted, I thought I'd change my leecherous ways (hurrr pun) and give something back. Well, it was really more of "eh, I don't have a place to release this or really give it exposure, and it was a
shit ton more work than I thought it would be, and those fakku guys seem cool, maybe I'll see if they want it." And so I got on the irc horn and pestered Jacob and he posted it. Cool. Anyways
This was my first translation, and I'm thinking about doing another one of Minato Fumi's works (the only other color one that hasn't be translated yet). It took me a lot longer than I thought it would, translating and cleaning a h-manga is a lot more work than I ever thought it would be. It took a few days actually, probably 16+ hours now that I think about it. But it's winter break, and I'm bored. They use all these slang terms and odd forms, often speak in accents, etc. Sometimes making a definite decision on what is actually being said in English is just impossible. Sometimes I took liberties, in the interest of clarity and because this is an h-doujin and so sexy > accuracy. But reflecting on it, I think I succeeded in being pretty damn accurate. Being enough of a weaboo to have taken some Japanese helps immensely. At the same time though, I was sitting there with densha jisho and computer translators and a second dictionary and a book on particles and my old textbook. I really have a new appreciation for this. It was fun, but a lot of work. When I first sat down I thought "oh well this can't be too hard, I bet I can do this in a few hours."
NO. Ya know though, I'm a programmer so I like sitting and concentrating for hours on end, to the exclusion of all else, and I guess I kinda went into the same "zone" I get into when coding and the time flew.
I looked up and I was like "fuck, it's 5am"
tl;dr:
