I'n South East Asia, since MediaTek hands out quad core processors like free samples, every company(in my area any way) has its "Quad Core" phones and even Octacore ones are getting cheaper(but their ports of Kitkat suck), I'm jealous your phone doesn't need a lot of "modification" in general. Though my phones heat up like hell, I have to deal with it to get the best performance out of the phone, gaming in general.
I really hope I can just get an Mi3 from Xiaomi soon(I heard its a beast), for less modding and tweaking.
Do we have a chat room or pm, or should we continue the discussion here? :)

Either way, the phone I have is the Sony Xperia Z2, which I was lucky to get via import. For what it's worth, it has top-of-the-line specs (besides having an 8-core). Mostly, I bought it for functionality. Extreme resolution camera, good battery, 2.3 GHz 4-core, 3Gb RAM, and better yet, waterproofing and built-in noise cancellation program. Because I bought the phone
unlocked there are no carrier apps on there, making it much more streamlined. The only thing I have to worry about on occasion is the company (Sony) Apps, but those are part of every phone and somehow tied into the OS, so can't do much there. Even then, they don't take out much. And when I do have a intensive program to run, I leave it floating in a puddle of ice water o3o.
I'm not too much on extreme gaming on a phone, but I do see your point. However, I don't believe 8-core processors are really market ready. There are a few, but they only can clock up to about 2.0 GHz (is it by core or by whole processor I forget). Even then, due to the nature of games nowadays, they become very GPU heavy and not much progress has been made in the world of smartphone GPUs. If you're gonna need that powerful of a CPU, then you must be using some far-out app because there are absolutely no apps yet that call for such level of CPU processing, unless you are running some insane emulator that isn't tweaked properly.
From what I've seen and read about the Xiaomi Mi3, it seems to be a sort of cheaper version of my Xperia, not that it's a bad thing, only problem being that it drains battery like a hog. Anyways, good luck, I'd love to see what you can do.
