Except for a 10-year break for High School and College, I've been collecting LEGO since I was 3, so that's a difficult question. I don't want to derail this thread, so I'll just post two quick links:

Camouflaged Outpost probably looks simple by today's standards, but I've always loved the 1980s Forestmen theme. Robin Hood, secret passages, forest hideouts, etc.
