32-bit os emulation

im looking for a method to install and run a specific game ive recently aquired. unfortunatly vista had some wierd compatability issue. its The Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time. i read elsewhere that even if it is a 32 bit program that sometimes there installers are 8-bit thereby making it impossable to install said program. one way or another im looking to for a method to emulate the correct environment to get this game running. the only method ive managed to dig up so far involves creating a virtual stestem thats running a different OS such as windows xp or something else. id like to avoid this as i know not of where i could procure such an out of date OS and for the amount of trouble it would likly bring. any ideas?

You could try running it in Windows XP compatibility mode, although Vista should already have support for 32-bit programs.

I'm not particularly experienced in this, but I would try running it as an admin or right click>Properties xp compatibility mode like Tegumi said. If that doesn't work, sorry, I don't know what else to do with it. In Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate there's true XP virtualization, though I guess that doesn't exactly help atm.

You could run a VM if the game is old enough. VMWare makes great software to run any flavor of OS you want and even has some DX9 support.

the first 2 options dont work, tried them long ago. as for the virtual machine one ive heard of it but i dont know much about how it would work. wouldi require a copy of windows xp?
