It would help if Chevrolet made good cars, I suppose.
Honestly, the closest the UK gets to these attack ads is supermarkets using independent stats to show they have more price cuts; they are literally the only example, apart from 'cleans better than the leading brand', that I can think of. It amazes me how (presumably) people listen to what both sides are bludgeoning them with, because at least for me personally, someone telling me why their product is good is going to make me want to buy it
way more than someone telling me why the others are bad; for all I know what they're telling me is rubbish or exaggerated, and it focuses on one point. The most successful adverts here are those with a brilliant concept or character - the epic Cadbury's drummer
and Aleksandr the Meerkat
- or the comically and memorably bad. Like I say, I honestly think that kind of ad wouldn't work in the UK being so needlessly aggressive and single-minded, and basically telling you what to think...not what you really want relaxing in front of the TV. I don't mean that as a reflection on the people - especially in consideration of the views already put forward - it's just that we're pretty set in our ways. :P
