Anybody know anything about Wheels and Tires for Cars?

So if you do or do not know I have a 2007 PT Cruiser(Can be seen here). My question is simple, The Rims I'm looking at are Set I'm buying them. But the tires are another story, these are my options I've found:

General Altimax 20HP $68/Tire
Falken ZIES ZE-912 $71/Tire
Pirelli P6 Four Seasons $100/Tire
Yokohama Avih H4 V4 $76/Tire

I'm buying the tires from the same place I'm buying the Rims because they come premounted and ready for home install

Just because they come pre-mounted shouldn't be a reason to get them at the same place. At my local Neal Tire, they will mount them for free when you pay to have them balance your tires. I've got some Michelins on my Bonneville but I have no idea what would be good for a PT Cruiser. You just need to look around at all the little tire shops - I'm sure they'd mount and balance your tire for free if you bought their tire from them and brought the rims in.

Every where around here charges for tires to be mounted and I've checked the prices as well, the prices are cheaper where I'm getting my rims at as well, after shipping I'm paying anywhere from 200-150 dollars less for a set of 4 tires. I make 7.75 an hour, I have to scrimp and save to do stuff like this, I work for my money and I go for the best value. As well, I'm looking for High Performance to help suit my style of driving.



I'm not buying Gangsta rims I'm staying with the 15x7 size that my car came out of the factory with as well do these look like Gangsta rims to you?

Those rims are badass! I would sooooo want those!

After Shipping I'm only paying 135 a wheel.

why would you put nice tires + rims on a PT cruiser?

Same reason I had them on the Bug(my old car). I want to. As for nice tires, it's a performance, thing for me. I feel comfort in knowing that the tires on my car can keep up with how I drive for the most part.

If you drive aggressively you might want to look into some polyurethane suspension bushings, at the very least for the sway bars and control arms. They'll make the car feel a helluvalot crisper through the corners.

BTW, nice rims! they'll go with the PT's white quite nicely. Do you know how much heavier they are over stock, or same weight? Because if they're appreciably more you might want to look into slotted rotors and pads with a bit more bite (stay away from drilled rotors over slotted unless you buy Brembo or AP Racing)



Same reason the import tuner craze started. People had a car that was sub-optimal and wanted to make it nicer/faster. Like he said, he makes 7.75/hr and the PT might have been what he wanted for what he could spend.

I had 6600 after my bug got totaled(long story don't feel like explaining it) so the way I can see it is this, I can make a car payment of 200 Max a month(I pay 180) so I work 20-30 hours a week and after every thing is said and done I have a paycheck from 100-150 a week. 45 goes to the car payment, 20 to gas, 20 for food expenses and then whats left into my general funds, which are strapped because of vacation last week.

The only real performance upgrade I have planned in the near future is to put a new exhaust system in.
