Anyone know an easy way to convery mkv.s to avi.s?

I downloaded some anime i want to burn to a disc so i can watch them on my x-box but they need to be avi. and they all come as mkv. I'm really retarded with the computer so is there any idiot proof method or maybe someone can just explain every little detail? thank you so much if you can help.

Video converter get
Install, open, click "Add Video", choose what you want to convert it into in the top right where it says "profile", click "convert," PROFIT!
On the bottom left you'll see "output folder." In case you don't know where the file will be, that's what you click.

Not idiot proof but works on streaming mkv to your xbox as well. Don't ask me how to use it since I don't have to but plenty of people say it works.
Converting will make you lose alot of quality and the subs may be messed up pretty bad at times. I would look into streaming to your xbox first before you pursue that route.
