Apples to Apples

i play this games when i go to cons.

Each player is dealt seven "red apple" cards; on each is printed a noun or noun phrase (such as "Madonna", "Canada", "The Spanish Inquisition", "Michael Jackson", etc.).

The judge (a chosen player) draws a "green apple" card on which is printed an adjective ("scary", "frightening", "patriotic", etc.), and places it face-up on the table for everybody to see. Then each player (except the judge) chooses a card that they think is the best match for the green apple card, and places it face-down. The judge shuffles the red apple cards, reads them (often aloud), and decides which noun is the best match for the adjective. This decision is subjective; the official rules encourage the judge to pick the match that is "most creative, humorous or interesting". Some might think it humorous if "mud" is played for delicious, and might give that player the point.

The player who submitted the chosen red apple card wins the round, and takes the green apple card to signify the win. All players then draw red cards until they have seven again, and the role of "judge" may pass to another person (generally going to the next player in line, though some rules have the round's winner becoming "judge"). Some editions of the game suggest discounting the last red-apple card played, to encourage players to place their cards down more quickly.

The winner is the first player to accumulate a pre-designated number of green apple cards; the more players, the lower the total.

there are also blank cards where you can make your own answer and that gets judged. i used my friends love live as the butt of a joke :lol:
a game of this can extend for hours. i just played a game for 4 hours with 7 people. apparently hand grenades are luxurious, adolf hitler is artistic, and saturn is cuddly.

the quotes on the bottom of the cards are fukken hilarious as well.

Yea I have. Won a few games with my friends, but ended up losing more often then not. I got friends who randomly pick the card they like best instead of what works the best :roll:

THIS IS GREAT. i am the president of the apples to apples fan club. i also recently came off a marathon game. its so hard to quit once you get going.

i think the last winner was Bill Clinton and flirtatious.

Well I don't remember the last winner since it has been so long but one stands out. I played with a group of Asians and there are some cards that almost wins. Soy sauce and rice... It didn't matter what the subject was, if you played one of those cards, it was almost a guarantee win.

Samuel L. Jackson always wins.

Every time I hear the title, Apples to Apples, I always end up thinking "Dust to Dust"...what is up with that...and I think the game would be very, very Imbalanced. Chuck Norris will Decapitate, Disembowel, and impale Samuel L. Jackson through a spike wall...(MadWorld reference).

Of course, that is simply my opinion, disregard if you so choose.

some of the nukes in the game are the blank cards, Samuel L. Jackson, Adolf Hilter, festering wounds, ninjas, quire boys and chorus girls. they usually win.

as far as my friends and I go I am the champion of apples to apples... It's all based on your ability to read people.

yah me too... hmmm....

I've played this before, it was with family. Fun game, but trying not to pick dirty matches is hard with little ones around. We got around it by picking matches the kids would understand differently than us older 'kids'. Maximum fun!
