Hmmmm, a goal after 25 seconds, and another after 20 mins. I won't spoil it for anyone who can't watch it live but this has been an interesting game so far...hopefully Everton win it, anyway. Like you say, Moyes does a great job every season, keeping them up there with limited funds.
As a side note, this game has an audience of around 500 million, larger than the CL final...
Lots of tranfer news, gossip, rumours etcetera doing the rounds atm...anyone have any thoughts?
There's the rumoured £73.5m ($119m) offer for Kaka from Chelsea, which they strongly deny, not that anyone believes them. Also the fates of the Middlesbrough and Newcastle players, and people like Eto'o, David's Villa and Silva, Henry, Carvalho, Diego Forlan, Adebayour, Santa Cruz, and any host of other players that Man City are supposedly looking at...
Indeed. If they go out of the Champion's League he will be gone, though. They bought him in because of his CL record, and a long-term manager, or indeed any real stability, comes once in a blue moon thanks to Abramovitch...
Yes, World Cup qualifiers time, also known as one my favorite time of the year. This weekend and next Wednesday are gonna be exciting. We could even have our first qualified team if Australia draws or wins their upcoming game.
The US lost 3-1 to Costa Rica yesterday but it's not like I didn't expected that result. The US has never gotten a win in Costa Rican soil and looking at the way they play yesterday, they may never happen.
US/Honduras, Costa Rica/Trinidad and Tobago, and Mexico/El Salvador are the CONCACAF games for this weekend. Good stuff.
Kaka for £59 Million (Bargain Basement)... He must feel like shit now seeing as Ronaldos been bought for £80 Million!
David Villas ALSO been bought by Real Madrid, If they dont win the Champions League this coming season then Florentino Perez is REALLY gonna be up shit creek.
One thing I must say about the dealing of Ronaldo is that £80 Million is a totally AWESOME amount of money for a single player (I thought the £59 M for Kaka was a bit much) but when you think that the Glazer family have DESTROYED Manchester United by lumping on £700 Million in debts (They didnt even BUY shit, Man Utd was a completely stable club) its not that great a deal seeing as it wont be invested at all.
When you think about it in these terms the money in the end is MEANINGLESS just a number!
Whats everyones view on Real Madrids insane spending? Recession my ASS!!!
As a Madrid fans, i know myself that this "Project Galacticos" is not that efficient.. But who knows.. People are just pissed because Madrid took their fav club's best player!! Hahahah.. Long Live Los Galacticos!!
Man Utd still has the second highest global revenue, and with that money in the bag, Ribery/Valencia etc should be with us shortly. That said, we've still got to replace Neville, Scholes, Giggs, maybe Nani and/or Anderson...
USA 2 Spain 0 in the Confederations Cup, this is mad. These are first teams, so Spain have had Torres, Alonso, Fabregas, Villa, Casillas...all the big names out there. The USA's workrate has just been immense though, chasing and blocking everything, and Tim Howard has been fantastic in goal. Red card number three for them though...
Man, that game was great. Spain dominated but they just couldn't put the ball behind the net. The US got two shots on goal and they to capitalized on them. Awesome. One of the reasons why I love soccer. Anything can happen in this sport. Also, Great defending by the US. Howard was a ball-magnet the entire game.
The US also ended the longest undefeated streak in international football history. Talk about historic.
I watched this game as well. What an amazing result! Spain dominated possession sure...but it seemed even in TRUE scoring chances. Spain came out hungry in the second half with constant pressure, but USA did a very job with quick counterattacking today. It reminded me a lot of Brazil but we'll never have as good of a touch as they do. I can't believe USA beat the world's #1 team in Spain who had 35 unbeaten streak and 15 game win streak!
So, Brazil vs USA Confederation's Cup final starts in a couple of hours; any predictions or thoughts? Obviously I want the underdogs to win it, but hopefully both sides put on a really good show and the US make a game of it. You'd have to say Brazil to win, especially with the US suspensions, but I'm going to say that it'll go to extra time.
The best thing to happen to USA in the Spain game was to get Bocanegra back. Even though we lost Bradley and he is unable to play due to that fucking bogus red card, I'm hoping USA can put up a fight. If we play with as much energy as we did vs Spain, the USA has a chance to win.
Brazil has always been a world power in soccer and when you compare the USA to them it is impossible to bet against Brazil. If I wasn't from the USA, I would say Brazil is going to win easily...probably a 2-0. However I AM from the USA and say that the USA will win 2-0! WOO!
Goal within 10 minutes for the USA, what a cross! I think the poor quality of the pitch has played to their advantage against these very technical sides.
EDIT: 2-0! 2-0 USA! Madness, great goal by Donovan though.
AND AGAIN: 2-1, this is a game again. Fantastic goal.
X3 Should be 2-2, header not judged to have crossed the line but did.
X4 NOW IT'S 2-2! I may get my prediction of extra time here, but you have to fancy Brazil now.
X5 3-2 to Brazil, deserved. Why they didn't bring Elano on earlier I don't know, he was great for Man City this season and he's delivered an inch-perfect corner here.
And Brazil win it! The USA gave a valiant effort and Brazil were poor first half, but they really came out and dominated in the second, and we saw five great goals in a quality match. Well played.
Man, that gonna suck. The US let that match go away. Still, they did good. Beating the two top teams in the world consecutively is something that's pretty hard to do. They should actually be proud they did so well especially when they were on the verge of elimination early in the tourney.
As for Brazil, you can't say anything that hasn't been said before about them. They showed again why their one of the top teams in the world.
Good tournament. Also, we're only less than one year till the World Cup. This is a good time to be a soccer fan.
Man, I'm just amazed the US made it to the finals. I was always sure that such an event was written somewhere in revelations as a sign of apocalypse.
It seems like it really came down to Brazil having better endurance. I didn't expect the US to win, or even do as well as they did. It gives me some amount of hope for the US team next year. It'd be nice to be able to actually get behind my home country's team in the World Cup.
Haha, what a complete heartbreaker man. It doesn't surprise me that Brazil won, but the fact that USA was up 2-0 at half was such a good feeling. I couldn't even imagine the excitement if USA had won that game...
Despite losing, USA looks like they are playing with some confidence, intensity, and having fun. This might give me high hopes when it comes to the World Cup next year, but after keeping up with Brazil and beating Spain you can't really blame me. We were so close. :(
Brazil and Ghana have officially qualified for the World Cup. Brazil did it by beating Argentina 3-1 at Rosario (that's gonna hurt), and Ghana beat Sudan 2-0 to officially win their group.
