hmm.....iv been thinking.......is being an otaku also being a weirdo? my classmates and neighbor call me a weirdo coz i draw anime,listen to anime songs i dont even understand the meaning (unless i check up for the lyrics) and watch anime the whole day..........well? what do you think?

Weird? I beg to differ. There is a LOT of people with the same interest as you, even if they might not be in your neighborhood. E.g am I one of them myself. I know many people with the same interest as well, on different levels of obsession. So No, you're not weird on a general level, even though you might be so in the eyes of he ones near you.

The answer is obviously no if there exists a large community of otakus all over the world. However, keeping your tastes and hobbies in check and not in excess is the important thing. I mean, you don't wanna look like a total geek.

And what's wrong with being a weirdo? I've fully embrace being weird/not giving a rat's ass about what people say.

*facepalm* it's just a common sense where when people encounter anything they don't know they deem it weird.
Being an otaku =/= weirdo or we'll have an outburst of weirdo in the world

I don't consider myself an Otaku anyway. But really, it's all just a matter of branding that which is different. And in the US, really anime still isn't a household word.
