Best Compression

Minsc is looking for an alternative way to compress files.
What's the best way to cut file size down?

Ideally, Minsc wants to upload games/videos to Mediafire(100mb limit), And without making it multiple files. Make sense, eh? Rapdidshare has the maximum daily limit, which is ultimately quite annoying.

So, the search is on. What's the best compression, and is it practical for downloads?... (Can the normal hentai fan, figure out how to decompress it.. etc.)

hmm thats a tough one though...well the best way is make it into multiple files but you don't like 'em

Not sure what you mean.. Minsc is trying to upload games/videos that are probably 200-300mb(in their current compression). The alternative compression would have to cut it by at least 50%. If you're asking if that's possible, well, Minsc isn't sure... haven't really researched this yet.

Hopefully someone has some ideas!

Ah, don't know... haven't tried it..
But that wouldn't be practical if they had to unzip it 300 times.

compressing a compressed file would only make it bigger
think of compression as something like, abbreviating binary data

most archives have some data attached to them other than the actual files... kinda like a data for a little file system to organize the files in the archive

so compressing a compressed archive is like enclosing a sentence in a parenthesis which is already in one
imagine it like this (((data)))

it's impractical unless you are trying to put a number of files/archives into one archive

ok... as for suggestions, you could try some other formats like ACE or 7z

To the best of m knowledge 7zip has the best compression out there.
