So what kinds of books do you guys read? (if at all)
i read A LOT, i mean i usually go through a book in 3 days (reg paperback size approx 300-600 pgs) and ill either have a new one to read or buy a new one day after
i basically only read sci fi and/or fantasy (i never got why they're the same genre)
ive gotten into military sci fi recently (ie ringo, weber, flint) and magic / tech books (quantum gravity-keep it real)

I'm a huge fan of the DUNE saga, I really recommend it both the original six books and also the new ones written by Herbert's son.
Harry Potter is also a very good read, despite all that can be tought about it.
The first two books are nice but quite childish; starting from the third it becomes much darker and more mature...and more interesting! ;)
The movies are utter crap in comparison, so don't judge the book by that!
Asimov is an evergreen classic...I simply LOVE all the "Foundations" saga.
Anne Rice is also a classic...but it tends to repeat herself and become less and less interesting with time.
Anyway the first books are simply AWSOME: Interview with the Vampire, Lestat the Vampire and Queen of the Damned.
Others are very good too...

His is possibly THE best fantasy saga I've ever found!
Almost magic-less, but filled with and incredible sense of wonder and supernatural legends, VERY political...it's almost "DUNE gone fantasy"...plots within plots within plots...amazing!
A recent discovery was the "NightWatch / DayWatch / DuskWatch" trilogy.
Veeeeeery good, I liked it a LOT.
Eragon and Eldest were nice...veeery simple and classic, but quite refreshing considering I came out from a period of very dark novels :P
other stuff...I'll leave for another time ^_^

Ilium and Olympos, sci-fi takes on the Iliad and Odyssey.

my faverites were/are r.a salvatore...i loved drizzt but the books kept getting monotonous.

Hm Ive read Ilium and Olympos (Dan Simmons is such an awesome write) and you shoudl read the Hyperion / Endymion series ( i like Endymion better, but you need to read hyperion to understand it)

hmm, ive been mostly reading howard zinn's "a people's history of the united states: 1492-present" its really good for any of you history buffs. i especially like some of the stuff towards the beginning about how much of a scumbag columbus was. zinn uses mostly primary sources. when he does start making his own little rants he does tend to be a bit too liberal at times, but otherwise its a damn good book. i took a class by the guy that wrote "polio: an american story" which just won a pulitzer, that waspretty good.
but as far as books aside from history books, i really liked the mahabharata. i read narayan's shortened translation of it. watson's translation of zhuangzi was interesting, although you gotta be in the right mood for it

I'm into drama, sc-fi, fantasy, mystery, and adventure heheheh.
I haven't read anything up to my level or full of pages lately was just re-reading some books I read many years ago like The Lost Boy, Push(too has incest), and the Hobbit (can't wait til its made into a movie xP)...

Ahh finished Ender's Game and moved on to the two sequels Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Hegemon. Damn good series and I recommend checking it out.

i love the death gate series! awesome books, very epic.
meh...harry potter of course, eragon and eldest, others like that...i read to much to remember the books...but oh well...

The last few boks I've read, besidse Harry Potter, were Word vs Void Series (Terry Brooks), Tales of the Otori Series (Lian Hearn *Gave me autographed book marker!*), and Cloud of Sparrows/Autumn Bridge (Takashi Matsuoka).

I usually read books like "Cities and Years" and "Johnny Got His Gun" Those are both older war books about WW1 and such if you didn't know.
