that's an old scam. the key to it is that the victim might be too embarassed to challenge the charges in person. watch the movie, "Lock, Stock, and Two Smiking Barrels". in the version of the scam they talk about in the movie, a refund check is issued with a horrendous company name so it will likely never be cashed.
