Brothers before Hoes.

I was having a conversation with my brothers ex girlfriends (my intentions are pure) about the unwritten (now written) guy code that exists, of course i'm speaking of bros before hoes. She stipulates that it's horse shit and that most guys don't follow it at all, and would be willing to climb over their trampled fallen brother comrades for vag. My opinion is that the code is very tight and binding, BUT there are times when the code can be superseded for example: twins. I want to know what you all think about the code, do you follow it to the letter as if it was a holy mandate handed down to us by God? or do you feel it should only be followed sometimes? Would the code stop you from getting vag if it was available with certainty? For the female users I would like to know if you have any form of code with your sisters, rules that remain unwritten but you all try very hard to abide by? Do any of you have any stories of the code(s) in action?

so everyone is clear I will give a brief explanation of bros before hoes as it is quoted on urban dictionary:

1. bros before hoes

The unwritten law that your bros (male friends) should always become before hoes (female with whom you are/hoping to have a relationship with). Most used as a trump card by your bros when they feel you are becoming whipped or that your hoe is a slut and a bitch.
Jack: Scott, its poker night, remember to pick up the beer.

Scott: Sorry I can't, Erica wants me to go shopping with her. She said we might go back to her house after we got done though, I'm hoping I will get in the box.

Have I decline sex to hang out with the guys? Yeah happens. I don't follow it like some people follow religion but, it's not a fucking sin to reject sex sometimes.

i think the code is generally used for before the first time you've had sex with a particular partner... not girlfriends in this case. It does apply afterwards just not as much.

Well like this is how I see things. You and a bunch of guys go to club / rave. Your the only one that hooks up with this nice girl and the other guys are tired and leaving and they're telling you to come since your their ride or they're your ride. second scenario:

Your spending some time with your girl, your enjoying your time together, then the guys call you up since its playoff time, tonight its Montreal Canadian vs Toronto Maple Leaf Conference Final game ( LoL wouldn't that be gold!) You were still going to watch the game with your girl since she enjoys the game too ( Not rare over here), but still boys = lots of beer and going freaking wild when scoring. Sorry but the boys win. Oh and no g/f or girls there.

So, to me , the broes before hoes depends on the situation

I see, your a situational bro. See in scenario one I would go with the boys, If i'm driving of course... if they had the car I would just cab home but the DD bro trumps all. It's not like I cant get a number right?

I tend to believe in circumstances rather than unbreakable rules/codes but since I have some far longer-lasting friendships than any relationship I was ever in, I'd be hard for me to put a chick before any of those. And if she would demand it, I'd defend the code all the stronger (I was faced with such a categorical demand once in the past and it was the chick that I've cut off not my bros).

Still, a woman can do all sorts of things to your mind (and wallet) so I can envision putting someone I'm properly serious about in front.

Where I'm from, this concept is completely alien, possibly because hip-hop culture doesn't have that much of an influence. It also seems completely ridiculous to me, no offense intended.
When it comes to the crunch, my interests > my friends' interests.
The only people I place unconditionally above myself are my girlfriend and my (younger) brother. Towards them, my loyalty is absolute.

I know there's been a few times where I chose to hangout with close girl friends instead of the gf, lol not the best move.
Anyway, yes I have followed the code at times but, it really depends on the situation.

[size=10]I, myself don't really have many male friends that I'm seriously close with. However, if I did have to choose between a genuine male friend and a chick who I was with (Dating or whatever), I'm not too sure who I'd choose.

I do believe that it'd probably be best to choose a guy/bro over a female.

The reason for that is because, based on personal experiences, not many females are all that loyal. Of course, I said not many. There could be some decent ones who are loyal. But as far as I know most females are disloyal (some of them actually proud of it). And because of that, I'd probably side with a male who won't be as likely to do something disloyal.

It wouldn't be worth choosing a female over a male when things won't work out anyway or you may end up fucked. The same can happen with a guy. I just think it's much more likely to happen with the opposite gender (in a males case, a female).

So do I live by the code 100%? No.
However, if I had to choose I'd probably pick a bro. I believe I'd be a bit more "safe" that way.

While I have been in situations that involve me choosing to spend time with my friends instead of my gf and vice-versa it's never really been about who is more important to me. It's pretty much "Hmmm what would I rather do right now?" and usually this means hanging out with friends because I live with my gf so sex is kinda an option I have whenever I feel like it (with reason).
