We eat cow meat and people from Indian don't. Does that mean eating cow meat is wrong too?

It's all about cultural differences.

If it's cooked right and worm free there's very little meat I wouldn't eat. I've eaten octopus, rattlesnake, Steelhead, Durian, Natto and all manner of things. Why would rat suddenly make me cringe?

This is all just a cultural difference. I'm a Chinese that's raised in Canada. Even though I have never experienced this type of thing and I'm not going to say it's wrong. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs. My sister has one and I absolutely love her to death. But the fact is, the Chinese see them as food. That's it. There are a lot of things other see as food but others won't. Who's to say that eating deer meat is wrong? Or even chicken.

Why do people treat one animal as more special than another? The intelligence? Perhaps if you had a pet deer or chicken or cow or whatever, you would think twice about eating it? Meat is meat. Regardless of where it comes from.

Because we're taught from an early age that cats and dogs are for companionship and cows and chickens are food.

Exactly my point. If we're never taught that, in the end, we'll just see them as meat and won't have a problem eating it. Regardless, animals are animals. If you eat meat, you have no justification to say that this is wrong.

i live around north sumatera where population of bataknese is high but never saw any dog meat in traditional market.
