Chose which children's hospital is left out of charity!

Microsoft - partnering with Children's Miracle Network - is holding an event where you vote which children's hospital gets a makeover, and which ones are left disappointed. It is sort of like American Idol, except the contestants are sick children.

Well I guess one hospital is better then none at all, some of them could seriously use it. (I know since I've worked at a few hospitals.)

It's better than having nothing at all. Microsoft can foot the bill for 170 hospitals but... at least a lucky few get to have an awesome game room.

There is no way to make an educated vote on who needs the games the most, so it seems unfair to me. At least they are doing something, but it isn't hard for a multi-billion dollar company to donate pocket change.

Eh. They're obviously doing this for publicity. They're improving their image and advertising their company at the same time. Because what's the point of donating to charity if there isn't millions of people to watch you do it?

But I don't see a problem with letting the people choose, that may be the only redeeming factor here.

It's better to give to some than none at all. And I don't think they can afford to give them all. But it is kinda stupid to let people vote.

Maybe if you take everything said at face value, but the point here is marketing. No such thing as altruism from companies.

Sounds good to me. Would we rather have arbitrary amounts to each hospital that amounts to a new hospital bed, or one hospital getting an absorbent sum in order to really improve with?

Dude, I could sponsor a game room. Why aren't they using their millions upon millions on something that would help people? I would buy a Microsuck brand Cure for The Cancer.

I don't mean just tacking charity on a product, I mean 200% paid for by them, first 79 cancer kiddies ride free.

It is nice that microsoft is doing something, but that isn't the issue. I don't like HOW they are doing it. Why make people choose who gets it? There are other ways of getting people to view a page about the hospitals or how to distribute the charity that doesn't involve a voting contest.

Would it be better if they decide to make this an annual charity event. I mean asking one single entity to upgrade ever children's hospital is an impossible fantasy not even a Bill Gates has that much extra money. Better to help some than none.

Sure, I don't approve of their bullshit marketing either. Not only that, but making it a voting contest shifts the blame more on the voters; those tricky cocksuckers.

I have no problems with this charity project. Companies are going to promote their shit anyway, and with this some children's hospitals are going to get some money. So it's a win situation for both parties.
