Dakimakuras anyone?

From my experience, this year summer Comiket has less attendees than last year's.
Tax rate increase in japan has affect almost everything (500>800 yen doujinshi , 10000 > 12000 yen dakimakura cover and so on) but not sure if that has any thing to do with attendees number.
Also as expect, event dakimakura cover is relatively 'tame', which is quite unfortunate.

so at least my favorite circle is making covers (MARKS) however i wish i could afford this shit lol apparently, MARKS has made their own fabric so their price might be fair cause of the exclusive factor. if anyone kops one of them joints lmk what its like. my birthday is coming up so i might buy one >.>

Dakimakura covers are pretty tough to sell, from my personal experience. I've had some luck selling them, but only for the really rare stuff like Marks/AnkoKoubou covers or unopened stuff that I priced considerably below what I paid for it. Of the ones you linked, there aren't any I'm personally interested in, but I might know someone interested in the Kurisu cover. And if she weren't getting a re-release in a few days, I'd also say the Kirie cover would be really easy to sell, even at a profit, but unfortunately the timing isn't great.

What material?

Yeah, the timing is pretty bad with Kirie. I'll list them on MFC, but I don't expect them to sell at all.

Yeah, the Kirie is really unfortunate. Still, you might be able to get MSRP for her at least; it looks like she's temporarily sold out on most stores and some users might still be looking to snag her.

That's pretty much how I am with my dakimakura listings, most recently with the Maki. She's been a cover I've wanted for years, but I always wanted the Nico more. I'll probably open her up in a few months, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to list her, and if I was lucky enough to sell her for a bit of profit, that would be cool. If not, it's a fantastic cover to have in my collection.

Do you have any experience with selling dakis back to Mandarake? I have a friend in Japan who I could send them to, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. I'm guessing not?

It's only worth it if it's really rare or one they have published on their website that they're looking for (with the price published.) I went to an event in Osaka one day and went to Mandarake in Akihabara the next, since I was short on cash. Took in a just released Marks cover, sealed and with the sample paper. Got 12k for it, which is what I paid. I could have tried selling my limited exclusive cover, which they were selling for 30k, but it's the one cover I wanted. I'm not sure what they would have offered me for that one, or if it would have mattered what store I went to. But the one I sold for 12k, they were selling for 18k later on.

yo if you wanna buy some new covers or w/e, right now the yen is at a good rate and everything is import friendly. i just got a bunch of good loot including my latest NoReal cover. i <3 kate =) now i'm waiting for the new stylus shit to drop so i can order and will be ordering 5 other covers as well. tis the season =)

If anyone knows of a good Asada Shino daki, I would be very interested in where it is.

I was so close to actually buy one but they didn't have the character I wanted so ended up not buying it and waiting. Now I'm just regretting it a bit :X

Finally got my Musubi, Kurumu, and Horo dakis I'd been eyeballing for months. I'd have never believed that I'd want to ever want one of these, let alone several.

That's how it grabs us all, man. I ordered my first as a novelty, thinking it would be something kind of cool to own. I wasn't very impressed with it (typical company cover), and thought that was likely going to be the end of the hobby for me. I ordered two circle covers at around the same time though, and that completely changed my perception of the hobby.

Yeah, the Yoko cover I got was ok but I had no idea there were larger sizes and such. My Holo cover is huge in comparison (150x50 seems huge) and has me hooked.

Just wait until you come across some that are even bigger than that. Most of my covers are 160x50, but I have a few that are 170/180x50 and I've seen one go as large as 190x50. Then occasionally you'll get some covers that are wider than usual. I think the widest I've seen was 160x70. It's pretty cool, though it's impractical to pick up a pillow for just one cover, since it's such an odd size.

I just ordered my second dakimakura online, got myself one of Riven from League of Legends. It will take a while to get here, but it will be worth the wait.
