Display driver errors

But with a few differences. Mines has a single HDD and its 232GB. Everything else as far as I know it has. Everytime it goes to the sceen saver the screen saver freezes. Sometimes it turns white and it says display driver nvlddmkm has stopped responding and successfully recovered. It also does that when I watch a an anime I torrented. Ive checked my control panel to see if I have Powermizer and Dreamscence like jenslyn suggested but I could not find it. I saw dreamscence on an update but I dont think it installed correctly. He said its a very general problem. I also tried updating the nVIDIA driver by going here http://www.omegadrivers.net/index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=section&id=2&Itemid=55

Next time, get your drivers from the actual nVidia site.

Im not too sure which dll it was that stopped working for me but my drivers always crashed when I overclocked a bit too much. Are you OC'ing at all?

Some laptops needs specialized drivers from the manufacturer's site but the NVidia ones generally work well too. Here is the support page for Asus products:

Select Notebook then the Series then the Model and you can find all sorts of stuff for your laptop. The display driver is dated back to October 10 so you probably should try the NVidia drivers first and if you have any problems then try the Asus drivers.

Overclocing is when you enable your graphics card to run faster. And it is what is causing the problems, except it is underclocking, and done automatically.

So will using those sites help or something else?

You can try the omega drivers I sent the link to, or the official drivers, but the problem is still that the graphics card gets over/under-clocked automatically and your drivers for some reason can't handle this. So if changing the drivers does not help, then it will be very hard to help you further, not that I won't try though :)

I belive what was meant with the question, was wether the screen would have noise, e.g. like bad tv reception where there is "snow" on the screen all the time.

Maybe Argentine knows some condition I am unaware of which causes this error

well recently my friend's laptop became like that.His screen gradually filled up with noise and it hanged.

We tried to use a fix on the net.Although it worked,you cant play any games or run software that uses direct x or open GL.

I have to get back to you if he tried another fix on his own though lol

Ahh ok. Last night while i was downloading visual studio 2010 beta It went to my screen saver then the screen turned white then went back to my screen saver. It repeated that several times

First download this:

Clean out the Nvidia drivers you have now. Do not restart.

The top left corner, type N90 and choose all. Then pick the N90Sc, and when it prompts you for OS, pick Windows 7 64-bit.

Install the newest listings under:
VGA
BIOS Utilities (Make sure its Windows 7)
BIOS (BIOS 205)

After you install (or run) the BIOS Utility, it will prompt you for a file which is the "BIOS 205". Make sure your laptop is plugged in, and run the utility. If it says you already have BIOS 205, do it anyway, it won't hurt to make sure. Often manufacturers have problems with their computers and then make fixes to them afterwards.

It is a graphic related power problem... how is a bios update going to fix that? also when it comes to the bios I am a big fan of "if it aint broke, do not mess with it" since the bios is so important and you wont get more performance/functionality from an update. Only update you bios if it is causing problems!

But by all means try to reinstall the nvidia drivers again, it never hurts to try an extra time.. though it is doubtful if it will help the 2+ time doing it :)

Well that didn't work. For a min there everything was enlarged. But it fixed itself

Lol why would you download 2010?Any notable features?2008 is fine as it is lol.I would still be using 2005 if my school didnt force me to learn direct X - -;;
