Well, I guess you can consider it "something else" in my case. Or a little bit of both.
What I enjoy from the opposite gender is the feeling of warmth and playfulness that you get from spending time with someone. When my relationships don't have any of this presence, they tend to end early.

From the few love affairs I've had in my day, I Can tell you honestly that the vindication you get from love is entirely self-made. Anyone can feel as good as a person in love, they just think they need the knowledge that someone loves them to feel it.
Love is a wonderful feeling. But its very possible to have that feeling... minus the love. its just a lot more work.

i like the term sweet heart better than soul mate because soul mate suggests a work of destiny or the hands of god's will where you have no control over.
meaning, (taking into consideration that alot of ppl find no one for their whole lives or at least no one to spend their ENTIRE lives) no matter what you do you're stuck with one person whom you'll likely get sick of within the years.

I don't really believe in "soul mates". There's matches of varying degrees, but a relationship always requires some effort from both partners to work; there's no magical, pre-ordained total-harmony-guaranteed "soul mate" if you ask me.
That said,
that's pretty much a given if you seek a stable, lasting relationship. No functioning communication + need to put on a show even for your partner = relationship dead in the water.
