Simply objecting to violence doesn't make u a coward, I don't like the very idea of fighting in reality(possibly never will), unless i'm in a position where it's a most likely life endangering situation where i'm forced to take my life into consideration, i wouldn't raise my fist against others, does that make me a coward?
Muhammad Ali might be a coward, but there's nothing wrong with a quote like that, there are certainly countless more pleasant things to do than to beat up people, well, unless of course, causing the suffers of others give u pleasure of dominance of some sort, but that's a whole different story then.
Ali is a coward not because he disdains violence. He's a coward because when it came time for him to serve someone other than his own ego he ran to africa. Wise men avoid violence but, know when it's time to take a stand.
Mahatma Gandhi was a great man. Never compare a piece of trash like Ali to such a great man.
