On one hand, it is a time-honored cultural tradition, but on the other hand...it's a bunch of regular people running away from from half-ton powerhouse beasts with horns.
But only 14 people have died in the last century in the major encierro in Pamplona, meaning that you are statically pretty likely to make it through with your life, especially if you are young and in good shape.

If someone trips and corks up the tunnel to safety that percentage drops somewhat though

How is this any more stupid than going bungie jumping for an example, they are both more dangerous than staying at home and watching TV but at the same time give you a thrill.

This event would give you the thrill of some raging bulls are charging towards you. While bungie jumping would give you the thrill of falling from a great height.

Putting that aside though, I would never do anything like this or bungie jumping for that matter. I R coward.

Big difference. In bungee jumping, you rely on a long stretchy rope to keep you from dropping all the way down. You won't necessarily die if it breaks because you could bungee over a river.

In the "running of the bulls", you have to rely on your feet to keep your ass from getting a horn up it. People's feet are less reliable than a good bungee cord. As you can see in the video, you trip, you're fucked. You don't run fast enough, you're fucked. Not too many people may have died, but I bet lots of people got hospitalized.
