I miss the 90's

I mean everything was better back then, the music, sports, TV, and people weren't as soft. I don't know I use to big a big sports fan, watching basketball, football (soccer), American football, and boxing when ever it was on, but now I don't know why it's so hard to actually watch a whole game. Part of the reason for my lack of interest in basketball maybe cause of Michael Jordan leaving the game and not enough fundamental being played, there's more to basketball then just slam dunks. When I say people weren't as soft I mean guys were guys and not so......"girly". I mean I remember when myspace was just a girl thing and guys weren't taking pictures of themselves half naked with other guys left and right. People were thicker skinned and didn't get there feeling hurt so easily. I don’t want even start with what happened to my music. I'll just say it boggles my mind that Lil Wayne, Soldier Boy, T-Pain, or anyone similar to their style are popular.

I don't really like making too long a post so I'll leave it at that.

not really, since there were no PS2's back then or high-tech computers... the only thing that I like about the 90's is that everything's so cheap. a manga costs a dime!

Not me either. I like how things are now, or we have our share of domestic and culture issues and oddities, but so did the 90s. I love the rate at which technology is increasing our influences both on a scientific and entertainment stand points. There really isn't anything about the 90s that I miss particularly.

I prefer how it is now due to the new technology. I'm an otaku, I need this shit for my life style. <_< As for music and people.. You can still find the same kind of music if you look hard enough or just listen to the old. The way internet is now helps with this. As for people, if people act different now and you don't like the ones who do, fuck them. Find the kind of people you like to hang out with. The internet is a powerful tool that can help you find the kind of crowd you want to hang out with in your own town.

Easier said then done. Not many who ex-thugs who like manga, anime, hentai, and video games.

Lets try and keep technology out of the mix and focus on society and culture for this one.

i'll agree with you on the sports, specially with basketball. Once Jordan left, the game got super boring. I rather video game in the 90's. There's much more piece of shit / easy mode game now than there was back then,todays definition of ''hard'' game just requires you to grind 100+ hours, thats not hard! You want to know a hard game, playing Ghost N' Goblin or Battletoad, if you manage to finish those game, then you can talk to me.. The switch from 2d to 3d was in the 90's and it was awesome!.


oh and WTF happen to Local Multiplayer? Where's the social life.

I didn't care for anime back then, so that doesn't bother me.

All good points there Yushi. Thanks for pointing those things out. Ghost N' Goblins was so good I bought it for my PSP, even if it feels a little different. I agree with everything you said except for anime in the 90. I was watching Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Slam Dunk(basketball anime), Super Champions (soccer anime), Ranma ½ back then.

I am not exactly sure if a fair comparison can done between the present and the past. Sure, there are many people who miss the 80s and 90s, myself being one of them, but who can say we won't miss 2000s and 2010s a couple of decades down the road?

While it's somewhat common to look on past (especially youth) days with nostalgia, I'm gonna agree as well. I liked the music better and it usually took me longer to get bored with a song. I also remember finding more joy in following various sports and events (due to my timezone I would often stay up all night to watch something - a thing more uncommon these days). Buttload of anime and games from that time too (98 marks a very special year for me) that will forever remain rooted in my memory. The everyday life was also more enjoyable even though my country was much poorer and more alienated than it is today.


I might just be getting old though...

What I like about my pre 2k life, people isn't as nuisance that time. But maybe it's just our country. About the soft part, Me, I get annoyed a bit easily, I think it's manly, nerds get cursed at and is thick skinned about it. I'll also be thick skinned on it but, will sure to leave as nowadays simple anger is bad no matter what's the reason unless you're authoritative. And MySpace, sumthin, they're actually goin playboy, It seems boring though, they'd like to get chased by girls there.

About MJ, he left a great history anyway and he might just get bad records if he keep on, I think he felt accomplished now. BTW, I don't watch sports, just anime, porn and rarely, movies.

I was a kid then, so it's a bit of a different story.
But, I would have liked some things to stick around:
-Games that are actually challenging (thank god for ninja gaiden, now. Although, apparently not the second one)
-Grunge. It rains, we play about it. She leaves, we play about it. My coffee runs cold, we play about it. And it actually means something.
-Bill Clinton.
-Kids shows you could watch with your kids. Jim Henson dies, the world goes to shit.


Although, I really like some things about now:
-Musical diversity, after a week, I tend to choke on flannel. The internet lets locals listen to anything, and the scene is really the sum of what is being listened to.
-Fast as shit processors, also-broadband.
-The Sounders. (football team)
-Liberalism. Not democrats ruling the world, but people actually believing in the rights of others, and moving towards a more united and free state of bieng. (firefox says spell check....I think that's the correct one...)

Ahhh...the nineties... the RX-7 was in it's prime, the Supra better than ever, we had the Evo and Impreza battling with each other in Japan, the F&F craze growing in America...good times. Damn good times.

Now that you mention it, my favorite movies like dumb and dumber are not as funny to me now. My favorite evening show was America's funniest home videos, when I watch it today it just doesn't seem right without Bob Saget as the host.





From what I hear in the import car forums F&F ruined the import scene. Before F&F, having a civic with a modifed engine was unheard of and unique. Nowadays people look down on the ricer cars because of stock cars with huge spoilers and loud mufflers. The underground scene was in it's prime during 89-99.
