I wasn't even planning on going drag racing that weekend at all until I had the bright idea to con my sister into letting me use her restored GTO to race with. She raced in the Sportsman field while I raced in the Novice Street because I haven't raced in years. Turns out the people in there are truly horrible so its not really much of an achievement. Pretty much as long as my reaction time was good I was going to win every time. My dad in his 68 Firebird only got to the 3rd round, sister got to the 4th and my class only had 5 people in it but everybody could buy back in for 5 dollars one time for first and 2nd round so we ended up going 5. It was king of the track day and the winner was going to get a Wally trophy. Too bad Novice Street wasn't allowed to participate in that =( I think I coulda took the winner XD
40 bucks, a trophy, a win sticker, and a beer bath. Not bad for a days work.
Here's the win ticket. Sorry about bad quality - was folded in my pocket and had beer spilt on it.
Notice my bad reaction time and his insanely horrible reaction time (perfect is 0.500 - anything under is red). His car couldn't run his number either. Because I was so far out ahead, I pretty much coasted over the finish line in fear of breaking out(going faster than what I said I'd run). This is bracket racing. Your pretty much racing yourself. Get a perfect reaction time and make your car run the number you said it would perfectly and you'll win.
