If food became intelligent and began eating humans do you think it'd be justified?

...could you truly call said food a monster? I mean we had been eating it for hundreds upon thousands of years and now that they are as intelligent as us they'd want some retribution. Could you honestly say that you don't deserve to be eaten alive by the food you were eating?
I ask this because one of my favorite clips of Akira (Love you Akira!) uses the dialogue of this weird British show about the Curious Orange who eventually becomes a cannibal and eats a little boy and everyone makes a big fuss about it.
Thats the video I was talking about but really... Could you feel completely innocent if food was trying to eat you for eating it? I personally wouldn't be able to but I still wouldn't let the food eat me xD

If food started to eat humans, we'd revert back to when humans were nomads and lived in small villages.
You can't have an intelligent society without going up basic steps.
You start out at physiological needs, your food, water, air, etc.
Without that fulfillment you can't go above anything else. You can't focus on education and have a civilization if you're constantly worrying about your next meal.
So it wouldn't be anything new, we'd just revert back in time, where you had to hunt for your food and defend yourself.
If you're interested in the other steps to go up you have
physiological, safety, acceptance (IE: love, etc), esteem, and then self-actualization. <- this is all Maslow's theory and I think he coined that term.

Oh god it is psychology all over again. As for your question, I think that we can eat what we eat because we deem them as unintelligent. It is like dog and cats. Society as it is today don't eat them but in the past and in certain countries they were food. Now that we think of them as intelligent and part of families, people don't eat them anymore.

My reply would be that I feel it would be natural, as it has been in the past. Unless you're talking about a banana getting off a table and sucking on my brains like a zombie.
Humans eating on humans doesn't make much sense since we're the same species. You'd be killing your own species out, despite our over populated nature. Survival of the fittest maybe, but that game kinda plays out anyway with Capitalism.

Well... I'm shure you haven't but do you think if a thousand mice attacked you, you could stomp them all before they began knawing at your leg and pretty much cripple you? As far as I know food ain't sentient yet (were that the case, there would perhaps be some sort of justice in it). For now however, I'm simply consuming 'dead' things deprived of any rights what so ever.
If it did however manage to pull off an evolution leap of this magnitude and still held a grudge, I'd have to catch me first.

thats life you have to eat to survive and so what sharks eat fish and they can think and the same for all animels so I don't think it would be cool to be eaten by food with a higher GPA then my sister but it would be the perfect example of irony.

Would you eat a talking apple that can explain Newton's Law of Physics? I wouldn't. I would freak out though... If they really wants to eat humans of course they have to fight with the humans. Again, I think its ridiculous trying to hunt down a tomato who could use an AK-47 when you could just hunt food that will provide less resistance.
I would say they're monster if they eat us humans. Seeing people begging for their lives not to become food, there's something wrong with it for me...

The entire question is moot, because as soon as you start trying to talk about sentient intelligent food, you are no longer talking about the food that we eat. You define any object by its characteristics. You cannot call a talking apple an apple, because we know that apples don't talk. Its not a characteristic that they have. As soon as you describe an apple as having that characteristic, it becomes something new and different entirely. Can you really say they would be justified in attacking people simply because people eat a food which looks similar to their appearance? The two are not the same thing.
When we are talking about justifications, it is also important to note that the circumstances have changed. Just for the sake of argument, lets put all those points I just made aside. When we eat food now, we don't feel bad about it because it isn't intelligent - nor do we (generally) intentionally cause suffering in animals before we eat them. We eat plants and animals not because we want to hurt them, but to survive. If food attacked humans it would only be justified if they viewed us they way we currently view them. If they truly believed that we weren't sentient or intelligent, and that they had to eat us to survive, then I suppose it could be justified. But that isn't what you are talking about.
