Anything that requires a pncil to be drwan is art. Now I'm not saying it's impressionism or cubism, but it's art nonetheless and damn fine one to fap at.

anything is art that requires creativity and effort, it just takes the right pair of eyes to classify it. to an extent id like to beleive hentai is art, many people have dedicated hours to the creation and materialization of these manga and videos and just because theyre sexual in nature doesnt mean that factors completely written off.

Certainly. I can't really admire just the artwork, thought. But when combined with the art storytelling, I consider it fine art indeed.

Art, in its purest form, is expression. Regardless of how vulgar, inappropriate, or completely depraved something may be, that doesn't mean that it can't be defined as art. Personally, I try to find some type of deeper meaning in whatever I consider as art, but it doesn't mean that it has to be subtle. A man sodomizing another man with a screwdriver, the actual act not just a painting or some other type of picture, can be considered art in some contexts. If a person finds some significance in the expression of an action, whether it is photographed, painted, sculpted, videotaped, or even performed IRL, no objections can truly deny its artistic credibility.

If people living in a glass room for days, free for passer-bys to look at, can be considered a form of art, I don't see hentai shouldn't be classified under the same category.
However, different people would have different classifications for the various forms of art. Some can be considered more elegant and classy, while others may be deemed crude.

I really don't think so but I can't give a proper explanation as to why without sounding either childish or pretentious. I think because hentai has a purpose that doesn't involve spiritual enjoyment. There's also the fact that hentai isn't subjective. Either something is hentai or it's not. With art, you can shit in a plastic bag and throw it off an overpass and call it art.
Hentai is art in the most basic sense that any sort of drawing is 'art" but I find that it is like the distinction of "movies" and "cinema" or "film". All cinema/films are movies but not all movies are cinema/film.

It's a basic urge. Art that is meant solely for intellectual and spiritual enjoyment doesn't exist in societies that don't have the security to allow for economic specialisation and meeting more than basic needs. Hentai is just porn that takes slightly more effort to produce. Actually considering hentai to have any spiritual element on it's own (sex arguably does but that's a different discussion) is either said in jest or by incredibly pretentious people that have very limited horizons.
