Is suicide the only solution to depression

i used to post helpfull comments on these back in my Gaia online days but the sheer number of them has hardened me.

Don't do it but don't fucking complain to faceless posters either. It wont affect us in the slightest so our opinions don't really matter do they? Besides this is just BEGGING to be hit by cyber trolls chanting "DO IT DO IT DO IT"

This. Suicide is the worst solution for anything. Doing it will just dishonor your yourself and will put the people that knew you like your family in a even worse position that they were already in.

If it is really that bad, go to the doctors, and then get anti-depression pills.

Another way to face it as PumpJack McGee said is : Don't try to think too much about the negative parts of your life, just laugh them off as if they were easy things because they probably are, compared to the hardships that many other people in the world have to overcome everyday just to survive(African people).

My family also has a history of bipolar disorder. My great-mother committed suicide when she was 30. The disorder has carried down in generations since then and I might even have it myself. This problem hit closer to home just a couple months ago when a family member (a very close one) confessed they were having suicidal thoughts. Only through that confession was I able to be their for them.

The family and I spent nearly an entire month by their side for love and support. Do to stressful situations at home + alcohol + bipolar disorder + side effects of new medication were almost a lethal combination. We managed to get them off the medicine they were taking and got them on meds that would actually help. The new medicine helped control those thoughts which allowed them to wean off the alcohol and patch things up at home. Hopefully that storm is gone now in my life and I never want to go through that again.

You've got to let your family and loved ones to know you're having these thoughts so you can receive the love and treatment that you need. When you get these feelings, the best thing to do is do something that makes you happy. Spend time with friends or family, take a walk, or simply watch happy movie/anime. Trust me, suicide is not the answer, it will only bring pain and sorrow. Don't be afraid to ask for help, someone will always be there to help.

Sounds like you need to talk to someone like a good friend. I would hope they would try everything to talk you out of suicide.

No. Suicide is the answer to stupidity. Believe me I know, as someone who's had issues with depression. You just have to stick it out and hope it gets better.

It depends on the problem, or the question you are asking yourself.
Also, there IS medication for depression. It's a chemical imbalance.
Everyone who said to enjoy life is right on the money. Look for something you like to do, and laugh when shit doesn't go your way.

If it's the situation that is getting you down, get the fuck out of there or turn it around (if you can).

I use to have depression during the middle school years due to racist peeps and stuff. Then I resolved to stand on top of them in life and watch their sorry asses fail.

Social suicide is another way to go but you'd probably end up thinking about suicide after that.

I lost friends after being a shut in for about 2 years because of agoraphobia they still are my friends but the friendship has went flat but there is always hope and with hope suicide is never an option. Also having a vice helps some thing that makes you feel happy like for me watching an anime I'm really getting into or a video game.

Suicide because of depression is common but I feel it can be avoidable, the sad fact of life is alot of people have in the past reached out to others in times of sadness or depression only to be shunned by other who believe they are merely "Seeking Attention" or they don't believe that the person is seriously depressed.

another sad fact is, those same people will be the first to come out at the funeral to say if the person had only just taken the time to reach out they would have done all they can to help
