It was actually a cleverly disguised love letter for his new lover, but his wife deciphered it and shot herself from despair. Cobain escaped and lives happily in Africa with said lover.
The only one messed up was the coroner, mistaking Kurt for his wife.

Holy shit...Oh let me tell you this girl in back in my high school years wore all this Nirvana hot topic clothing and she ended up talking to my friend about the band and my friend says "Yeah its a shame kurt kobain died" and the girl responded "Kurt Kobain is dead?" I lol'd pretty hard after hearing that.
