Currently trying to troubleshoot my laptop, and I think I've pinned down the problem, but the solution is rather expensive. So I was hoping that some other techies could reassure me that my logic isn't flawed before I go throwing money around.
Alright, so I got home, and my computer went to a blue screen whenever windows tried to start. The following error was reported on the BSOD
MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION followed by a memory sequence starting with 0x00000009. I know this indicates a hardware failure. I tested my ram, no errors on either stick. Using "Last Known Good Configuration", I can get past the blue screen and boot windows, but my computer "skips", freezing every 2-3 seconds for about a second, then working, then freezing again.
I believe that the problem is with my CPU, and that it needs to be replaced. I've cleaned out the computer, but it hasn't helped. I just wanted to get a second opinion though, before I go out and blow the money on a replacement CPU.
tl;dr: Is my CPU really borken, or am I just ill informed?
