Mothers Day!

I'll keep this short. Mothers day is coming up. May 10th in the U.S.

I know there are people, who are usually (but not always) teenage girls, that claim to hate their mothers, but not everyone does. Anywho, I was just wondering, do you celebrate mothers day/do anything for your mother. If so, what might you do this year?

I'm thinking, buy a boquet of flowers, a card, and some other things.

Sure, I'll thank her for fucking my dad.

My mom's still a bitch though.

I'm making an ice-cream cake from scratch. She liked the one I made for my brother a couple of years ago, so I think I'll kick it up a notch and make an even more kick-ass version. ...And a card, or whatever.

I need to figure out something awesome but cheap to do for my mom this year, because I'm moving several states away 3 days after mother's day, and am also poor.

I don't really hate my mother, either, so I don't want to make her feel like shit because her son doesn't care enough to do anything for her on mother's day.

@rbz: Ah, well that doesn't suprise me too much since a lot of people tend to have issues/problems with their mother/parents. And yeah, mothers can be "bitches" at times, but I try to appreciate things/people while I have 'em.

Lol, that's pretty neat. I live close to a bakery and considered buying the current special, a mothers day cake (that was before flowers came to mind). Flowers do seem a bit unoriginal though, but for now... that's what I'm going with.

I guess I'll be cooking dinner for her. She likes my homemade pasta so I think I'll be making that.

@Mr. Bushido: Dinner seems good, unfortunately I'm no cook haha. I do basic foods.

@Dante: I missed your post, sorry. But anyway that sucks, the money issues. I no longer play games, so I sold mine. Also pawned jewelry. Maybe sell crap that you don't need.

And I DEFINITELY get the last part of your post. No matter what, your mom is your mom, show love. That's my view, though I can understand why some disagree.

My mother died ages back.

But she was a bitch, right to the end, so I couldn't give an less of a shit.

Honestly, it's hard to feel sympathy for someone who kicks you out of the hospital room for beating them at wordplay.

why would you argue wordplay with someone who's on their death bed? People are often too concerned about being right when it's not the time to be.

I'm probably gonna give her a gift. Since my dad is going to be on an overseas trip, there's no way I can cop out this year.

Hell, I should give her a gift every day just for not giving me away when I was kid.

Lol Waar, you're a funny guy (though at times you can say things about others/to others that [with their added reply] cause... a bit of chaos), but I'll say no more... don't want another thread in which you and he (Angelus), along with others, argue.

Edit- Azuran that sounds good, why not do it. Sometimes I think the same, give a gift/show appreciation each day, but it's not too easy.

I'll probably work out something between me and my brother. I'm thinking about taking her with my dad and bro the botanical garden, since she loves carnations. I might go to home depot and buy some white flowers for her moon garden.

I love my mom. I hate my dad, he can go jump off a cliff. I grew up without my dad so she raised me on her own and helped me build a strong personality and a sense of interdependency. It's hard to hate somebody who did their best in raising you right by themselves and without a lot of money.

I remember the days when we didn't even have enough money for hot water. We had to boil water and pour it in the tub.

Anyway, I don't really know what I'll do for her. Last year I bought her a card and wrote about all the things I appreciated her doing for me while growing up, she cried.

I'll also be moving very shortly after Mothers Day so I can't afford much. Maybe I'll draw her something, she likes my drawings and framed a few.

I'm no poet, nor by any means sociable; I do not know how to put my words together let alone have a conversation. I buy her a card for her, I know it's cliched but it's the feelings that count right?

from what i remember, mine was nice enough. not really much i can do at this point, and visiting graves has always seemed peculiar to me. my twin brother suggested planting a tree for her in our backyard, but we're students and we rent our place, so its kind of questionable.

penelope, sorry for your loss. Maybe a tree would help, of course it could. But tree or not, as long as there's a place, an irreplacable one, in your heart, thats pretty much all you'll need for her, lasting love.

Why would me loving my mom be a question? Out of character? Growing up I had to deal with an extremely overbearing father who wanted nothing more than for me to be successful (with sports/girls/school) and most of my debate skills came from him (the whole anger people into outbursts). Basically I had to debate him countless times a week over everything and my mom was my greatest ally; whenever she felt that he was being too harsh or unfair she would come to my aid. Don't misunderstand, I love(d) my father, he made me the man I am today, but I attribute any character strength (emotions and that sort of crap) to her. If you knew me in real life you would probably say you loved me because I'm completely nice/caring/happy to/with everyone I meet. It's almost like my parents raise two completely different children, my dad raised waar and my mom raised me.

I owe her a lot and I always repay people for their kindness.
