MU Happy Hour gone?

Yes, Megaupload has done away with Happy Hour I believe. In it's place tho they have uped the amount that you can download before you hit the download limit. You're now able to download 6 downloads in a hour and if you exceed that limit then whenever you started the original download say you started part 1 of a download at 1:00 pm and you got stopped at 1:40 on part 6. You would then have to wait the 20 minutes till the hour which you started is up.

This is not a official statement of Megaupload so don't quote me on it. It's just what I have observed over time. It seems like a pretty fair trade in my opinion considering I don't use mega toolbar. For those of you who don't know mega toolbar is spyware. So I don't go anywhere near mega tool bar or the mega manager.

it is not really spyware...if you know how to use it.....and btw the LicencingAgreement already says that it contains this kind of stuff

Yes it is. It changes browser options on without you having a say in it and you can't undo the changes that it makes. That means it's spyware according to this.

EDIT : You say if you know how to use it and it's a neat trick if you can prevent it but can you say that even 1% of Fakku would know how to disable the spyware? I wouldn't. Also I don't see how you've gotten past the parts if you'd like to share I'm curious.

EDIT 2: Also is there any point in even downloading the megaupload toolbar anymore? The only benefits that I see that it had was happy hour and transloading. Both of those are gone now. So is there any other benefit it brings or is megaupload just trying to get their name on everything like every other maker these days? I wouldn't download anything from a download manager or anything download related when I never see the need to.

the reason i use the megamanager is that you can store all the upload links in an external file and check if the links are still working.
further more there is the hidden way of remote upload.

and the best thing is (well thats not a feature of the software more a feature of the way mega handles uploaded files) that file don´t get deleted on megaserver even if the link gets removed.
I guess removing every file that gets reported would just slow down the server so....

....the only thing mega does is to remove the link so that it becomes invalid -> due to this no one can dl the file anymore -> the outdated expiration date then just leads to the fact that the file gets deleted (well i guess that mega is making a servercleaning at the end of the month an then simply delete every file with an invalid expiration date)

this is a very interessting way, because when some of my links get reported I simply just choose the file and name it like the file that was available in the reported link...and for some reason (i guess that megamanager is matching the dataheader with the dataheader of all uploads or something before uploading) I get a working link within like 5 - 10 sec....

....but the very strange part is that....well I dl a torrent and after the torrent is finished, I upload that file.
and well because for some unexplainable reason, the file is also uploaded within 5 - 10 sec sometimes....
which is strange because even if mega would contain lets say spyware, it would not store the whole bunch of information that was transmited via the net, because the amount would be unhandleable and they would also (refering to the License Agreement)just store visted http sites (well like the License Agreement says it only keeps track of HTTP communication)and not the whole incoming data.

Well those seem to be benefits for the uploader but I'm not seeing any benefits for the downloader in downloading megaupload's software. Sure the people who upload are getting some benefits but nothing really for the downloader other then being confused cause they're a noob and taking up space on their hard drive. Oh and also the possibility of some spyware. Pretty much happy hour was the only thing the tool bar at least had going for it and now that's gone (allegedly). Like i said tho the limit of downloads has gone up from what I've seen so it kind of balances itself out in my opinion. Some will disagree I'm sure.

well there is no benefit for a dler i admit...but for a uper this is quite a handy thing.

because you know that is is a real pain in the ass to reup things and it can take a while.

I believe that's also transloading. When a file is rapidly uploaded for no apparent reason. It did it a few times on a friends computer I borrowed back when I was uploading on a regular bases. 500MB in like 5 seconds. Earlier tho in the Suggestion section on Fakku Klown mentioned that that feature has seemed to stop at least for him. So that may be another thing that megaupload has taken away or fixed.

You may have been able to batch a whole bunch of links but each one is still splitting the download speed in between each one. Technically it's the same difference except maybe for people that conveniently are on when happy hour is up. I still think it's a fair trade but your in titled to your opinion.

Megaupload's really pissing me off.

I downloaded a fansubbed version of the original Mobile Suit Gundam about a month ago, and as I've been watching it, I've been uploading it to Megaupload to share with Fakku. (I wanted to wait until it was all uploaded before sharing.) I go there the other day to upload another episode, and the layout is all fucked up, and I'm not even sure how to do anything.

I read that the MegaManager or whatever will let me upload faster. I really like the idea because it would take me two hours to upload one episode of about 250MBs. I have high-speed internet, but it would only upload at about 50kb/s. I figured if it could make my uploads faster, and make it easier for me to understand how to upload with their crazy new layout, I'd give it a try. Sure enough, I started the upload, and it finished in seconds. I actually thought something had fucked up, and it hadn't been uploaded, but it seems to work well enough.

Then, today, I go to download the latest Fairy Tail chapter, and when I click the link, nothing pops up, and it usually pops up immediately. After a minute, the fucking MegaManager pops up, wanting to download the file using it. I get pissed, and I messed with all the options for ten, fifteen minutes, before finding the option via the Add-Ons section that lets me decide to not download any files with MegaManager. Fucking piece of shit.

Fuck Megaupload. I'm still going to use them for uploading and downloading, but fuck 'em. :x

Most people don't know what they're getting into when the download a download manager or a download accelerator. Most of the time there is a catch or spyware or a certain requirement you must meet before continuing with using it properly or at all. Most of the time it involves people not being able to download from megaupload at all and they download 10 different kinds of software that's suppose to help and it doesn't and all they end up doing is wasting time or causing damage to their computer.

As we've said in this thread pretty well I believe all of megauploads software that's suppose to help doesn't unless you're special or lucky like in Eranox's case. Sense the site has come up with a redesign I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they come out with toolbar or megamanager or maybe both 2.0 or something.

well, I made that mistake and once installed it. Removal was quite simple, I just turned it off in firefox options, deleted it manually and deleted anything containing megaupload from my registry... then used antispyware program to be sure and voila, it's no longer a bother. I think everyone who knows how to instal MU Toolbar also know this much about PC's to get it removed. But it's only my option.

and that happy hour case... it was affecting only premium/only free/both users? I knew a few months before I had some problems with the limited amount of data downloaded, but it disappeared somehow (I'm only free user). So may I assume it's back?

I knew you could delete it and then use a cleaner, but I thought Eranox was referring to a way of keeping the toolbar without having to deal with the spyware but apparently he wasn't.

I discovered that the toolbar had spyware both from what I've read online and that a few weeks ago I started to install it and then spybot kicked on saying warning don't install etc. I was like wtf megaupload at that point. I couldn't believe they would do that.

The download limit is still there but like I said before it seems the amount you are allowed to download has been raised at least for me it has.

but seriously, who would willingly keep that shit in their own computer? I don't care if someone steals my passwords to some forums or even e-mail (I doubt they would even understand Czech :D ), but seriously, that shit fucked up my whole browser settings (and this is really bad since I tuned it for about 3 afternoons in a row after new OS installation)
I don't upload on MU often, so could anyone tell me what benefits it gives you if you install it? I just wonder why would anyone keep that in their PC.

well I just have to say the using the MEGA MANAGER will not cause an thing like spyware or malware...as for adware there is nothing said about in the EULA (but due to the test below ther is also nothing like this)
but if you install MEGA TOOLBAR then ther is written in the EULA that it will also perform a HTTP communication based overview aka spyware shit.

so the "trick" is not to install the toolbar thats all.....
