I promise, this'll be a kick.
Yesterday, I moved from my home in Puerto Rico to Washington. I couldn't take much, as I'm staying with my sister and her family while I sort things out. A lot of my favorite manga (Iono-Sama Fanatics, my old Change Commander Goku single, my Ugetsu Hakua artbook)had to stay.
That said, I made an effort to take some stuff I knew I couldn't leave behind and not feel bad. So, I took the following and stuffed it into the lining of my luggage:
- My old Play magazine with the Muramasa the Demon Blade cover (you know the one)
My old Spanish copies of Space-Time Agent Valerian comics #1 and #2
A few Edge of Spider-Verse issues (the ones featuring Spider-Gwen, Aaron Aikman, and SP//dr)
The complete Transformers Windblade series (just four singles, so it's small)
That Shahrazad trade paperback with the gorgeous cover by Nei Ruffino
The Etrian Odyssey III artbook from Atlus
Debaser
A variant of Executive Assistant Iris with a cover drawn by Reinaldo Quintero
My Bachelor's diplomas
Little did I know that books warranted a search in airport security. 'Cuz, y'know, they actually
could be used for no good. (No sarcasm.) So, I had to sit there with my wheelchair-ridden mother while a security guard flipped through them all, going, "Gee, you read a lot, eh?" and "A collector, are we?".
The punchline:
I was stressing out because the whole week previous, I was wondering whether I should bring my copies of Renai Sample and Moonlight Lady. I laughed in my sleeve, because HOLY CRAP, no matter how uncomfortble it might have been to have a guard rifle through my comics, at least he didn't find actual PORN.
So here I am, in Washington, minus my beloved Moonlight Lady and Renai Sample but with a nice story to share with my friends. Moral of the story: don't bring your Fakku porn cross-country, that's what the digital copies are for.
