From what I get to know on Wikipedia these are the "standard options":

Smith and Wesson M3913 (Rumored to be in use by the Hokkaido SAT unit)
lucky in military I use M1911A1-.45ACP with combat mod class 3, very effective with drug-crazed suspects as they do not fall after you shoot them in the legs with normal slugs....scary !!! >_<""

The Heckler & Kochs as well as the Sig Sauer pistols are great stuff. Never was too fond of Glocks with their polymer frame. I've seen some weird shit happen to the frame of a Glock.

You could do a "Lethal Weapon" with an old guy nearing retirement using an old revolver and a young burnt out cop using an automatic!
Japanese police have loved using revolvers in the past but the trend is towards automatics now. (Alignment with the US)

No, an expatriate 23y/o Japanese woman named Sakuya Takahashi. the off-duty cop is only in the second chapter for the incident, he's not seen again afterward.

Well, if an officer is licensed to carry a gun on duty, there is a good liklihood of him being able to carry a concealed weapon off duty and them doing so. A lot of times police officers don't even live in the same cities to prevent people going after you later for revenge, etc. Though I'm in the United States and am unsure of the laws/regulations in Japan.
