Need help getting video files onto ipod via itunes.

Mmkay, so I have a shit-load of anime on my comp now, but I want to get it onto my 160 gig ipod so that I can view them on the go; that iz why I shelled out az mush monay az I did when I bought the 160 gig model, to get a bunch of anime onto it. However, the video files will not import to itunes. I would like to know if anybody haz a way to convert .avi and .mkv file types into a format that can be put onto itunes. any assistance is appriciated. Domo <(^.^)>

Can't Itunes do that for you? Unless avi and mkv don't show up on the program.

Soo...once I get it into the proper format, how do I get it to the ipod? I'm not all that terribly tech savvy when it comes to stuff like this. Do I have to import it to itunes and then plug in the ipod and syncronize them to update and upload the videos? If so, how? I can't find anything under the menu options at the top of the browser. And while that will work for most file types, it doesn't appear to support .mkv type....damn russians with their damn filetypes.

You've got to add them (The video files in the converted format.) to your iTunes library, then go (Inside iTunes.) to your iPod to the Movie/Video (Whatever it's called.) tab and enable synchronisation of that file. I think.

Arigato Gozaimasu! As of a few minutes ago, I have succesfully uploaded a full season of anime to my ipod, thanks to your sage advice and assistance! The only thing I would like to inquire after now, is whether or not any of you know where I can find an easy to use .mkv to .avi file converter, due to the fact that the converter Nacho, bless him, informed me of regrettably will not convert the russian made .mkv file format. And currently, more than half of the anime I have on my external drive is in the .mkv format :( I will look around for a converter on the web, but if any of you have or know of a converter that you know works well and is simple to operate, then please tell me about it.

SUPER can handle mkv files just fine, and does everything the jodix converter can, too, it's just slightly more difficult to use, since you have to change several preferences for the converter to get the wanted result in iPod compatibility. If you have no idea on what specs to convert the mkv files into, take a look at the specs of the already converted videos, that might help. (Note for Vista: Run as admin. -_-)

If that sounds too long winded for you, you might take a look at the Riverpast Crazi Video mkv to iPod converter or the Ojosoft mkv to iPod converter, both looking a lot easier to handle, but I haven't tested them myself and can't give you guarantee.

Mmkay, SUPER was a super-bust; it took over an hour just to convert one .mkv file to .mp4 format. Tried the Ojosoft, liked the simplicity of it, but I'm not gonna pay the $30 some-odd dollarz to activate it, and an unactivated version will only convert 20% of the file, which blows goats. So, i'm gwyne try out that Riverpast one you posted a link to and try that one out now. If it doesn't work, I'll probably be back asking after any other conversion software that will get .mkv to .mp4 without a fuss.

Ask and ye may recieve, look for yourself, and ye will surely kick ass. I got one, and it iz workin GREAT!!! only eight minutes working and it's already almost 30% done. It is a freeware program made by some guy, it's called the Pazera Free Video to iPod converter version 1.1, and it will do any video file that I need it to do. Moreover, it is easier to use that super converter, because you can load pre-selected settings to convert exactly to the proper format needed. I believe it will also do more than just convert to .mp4 format as well; I could use this for all my conversion needs to get them done fast and effectively, and I didn't have to pay $30 for it either! Stick that up ur asses and smoke it, u profit jackals of the inter-webz!! I spit on ur shooz!! I fart in ur general direction!! Ur mother waz a hamster, and ur father smelt of elderberriez!!! :lol:

Sorry about that, they didn't give away that it's trial software and would I have known that I would have spared you the trouble. Super - that's what I meant with slightly more difficult to use. Super does a great job (At least for me.) and the problem you encountered is probably because you ordered it through a lot of unnecessary work. I think I'll write that off my list of software recommendations. And now enjoy your anime. =P
