If you live in an area where roaming gypsies are likely to take your shit, it's probably time to invest in some sort of self defense accessory. If nothing else, find an old japanese man who will let you paint his fence and wax all of his cars. It'll help, trust me.

I almost got robbed once. A dude wanted to steal my mp3. He pretended to be holding a knife behind his back while he threatened me. I believe he said something along the lines of " Gimme the mp3 or you're gettin it!" And i did one of the most stupidest things i could ever do(or maybe I just think its stupid), I actually got closer to him and said " Alright, first show me that you DO have a knife, if you do I'll give you my mp3. If you don't have one, then I'll beat the living shit out of you." I was scared as hell but I couldn't show it. The guy eventually backed off after a few seconds and just walked past me while maintaining eye contact and as soon as he turned the corner and left, I let out a (quiet) sigh of relief. My hands were shakin for a few minutes after that and my heart was racing like crazy. I got lucky that time but hope I never find myself in that situation again.

I have relatives who are.

My paternal grandfather was an Irish pavee, and a con man, among other things...although I guess that reinforced the stereotype, I don't really care much.
If your relatives live normal lives and aren't pikeys or anything, then you shouldn't really be offended.
Most negative things said about gypsies and the like aren't about the ethnicity, but more about people who cheat the law at every turn, and steal and grift their way through life.
If you are knocking gypsies based on ethnicity, then you are a nazi cunt, aren't you?
I personally don't have a problem with them either way, honestly.
No such thing as an honest person, so why lie about lying for any reason other than profit?

I can understand where he's coming from. Lamz0r said, "Fuck those damn gipsies!" If I got robbed by a black guy and said, "Fuck those damn niggers!" I'd be called a racist. Even if I used the word "blacks" instead of "niggers," it's still be considered racist by most people, wouldn't it?

It's really more about anger than racism, the fact that his assailants fit into one specific group was just a convenient target. Anyone would get pissed off in this situation, and few people would bother cleaning up their language just so they don't 'offend' anyone in the process.
