nVIDIA, no contest. The second choice should be ATI, not Radeon.
I had an ATI back in the day and when I switched to nVIDIA I've never gone back.

Every bit of Nvidia's technology is so far ahead of ATI that it isn't even funny. Radeon is simply a rip off brand that copies all of Nvidias stuff but in worse quality. Nvidia was so far ahead technologically they were able to release like 4-5 different versions of the 8800 card because ATI was BARELY matching it. When ATI matched/beat it THEN they came out with the 9000 series....which blows away ALL ATI cards.

IMO, there's no better "brand", I go with the product as long as it is value for money and what I require. But recently ATi AMD's been very disappointing.
I do hope S3 comes back, more competition, better prices =D
BTW I'm running a GeForce 8800GT 512MB on non-OEM cooler.

I think nVidia would be more suitable for gaming I'm now using GF 9600 GT and it's working just find :D
PS. Get it to early that's why I didn't get the 9800 one :(

apparently the new 4000 series AMD/ATI cards are suppose to run better than the new GTX200 series nvidia card thats coming out this week. Course its all speculation as of right now. Personally, i go with what gives the best price/performance ratio. I got my brother a HD3870OC last week for 120 bucks, and i myself use a 9800GX2 that was a minimum stepup cost for me. Competition can only be good, just look at what AMD did to push Intel to release the Core architecture.

What about ATI's "Crossfire" (or whatever it's called)? It's basically SLI.

right this moment, the new 4000 series cards from AMD/ATI are really looking as the winners of this generation of video cards (compared to nvidia's GTX200 series). At $200 retail USD for 4850, its got the same performance as a 9800GTX. At $300 retail for the 4870, its got same as a GTX 280 in some spots, and totally kills the GTX 260. The GTX260 is MSRP at $450 while the GTX 280 at $650. Crossfire the 4850'll beat the GTX280 (while costing only 400 dollars to buy 2 cards) while the 4870 in crossfire will surpass totally destroy the GTX280 while costing 600 bucks to do it (still 50 dollars cheaper than the GTX280).
Crossfire's drivers are also more mature than SLI with less bugs. I myself have just moved from SLI to crossfire (went from a 9800GX2 over to 2 HD4850 in Crossfire) and i can say my games run a lot smoother under crossfire than they did in SLI.

nVIDIA, although competition from ATi seems to be heating up. I'd say that is good 'coz it helps to keep the prices of nVIDIA cards in check.

Both are good, really depends on what you want Price/performance go with ATI/AMD, or raw power then go with Nvidia.

Of course you guys could always get an ASUS Motherboard and then go and check out their Customly modified Video Cards specifically made for their Motherboards. Wait... ati=less expensive+More power??? JEESUS It's 9000!
