one word: Sorry

If you don't apologize, it'll lead to many unnecessary problems, if you don't like it that way just keep apologizing until you feel the word is less valuable. You can get away with many things and pretend it's an accident with just a simple word. This can be demoralizing but that's how life works: No one is truly sorry.

Sometimes all you need to do is to say one word: sorry. Even if the person you apologized to don't give a fuck of it; it'll make you better that you already said sorry. It often works like that.

And sorry is one of three good ol' magic words: sorry, please and thank you.

People should keep this in mind.

Sometimes its hard to do but when you apologize it kinda lifts you from the burden that is troubling you.

I agree, some people even you apologize to him/her, they still don't forgive you. considering you their archenemy.

Had this happen to me once... with a girl. I was in her friend zone, because I was her best friend.

I began to ignore her because I didn't want to trouble her with how I feel (or more like, being in her friend zone hurt too much to look her in the eyes)... half a year later, she moved out of town.

I was troubled by horrible nightmares afterwards (not constantly but every now and then), until one day, I coincidentally met her again (that was like, 3 years later). We sat down and talked about all the shit that happened (though I never revealed that my feelings for her were the cause). She forgave me.

Never met her again since then, but I felt so much better and I never had those dreams ever again.

Offtopic but I also had a childhood crush with a friend until she left. Never saw her again after 6 years so I'm envious. Did you say sorry or something?

Not really. If it has been proven that I am at fault I will say sorry or ask for forgiveness. I think I will even if I think im not at fault, hoping for some diplomatic benefit out of it.

Well, we talked about it and I told her I'm sorry for having treated her like that. It was kinda painful to see her again, though.

I make it a point to apologize as soon as possible if I did something wrong or inconvenienced someone, irregardless of things such as pride. Simply because I really didn't like the lingering feelings of guilt and discomfort that burdened me on the instances that I didn't apologize or said a sincere apology, and as much as possible, I don't want it to burden me again.

A little off topic, but last year I broke up with a girl while playing the song "Apologize." She cheated on me with some stoner, so I told she could go and ruin her life, just to leave me out of it.

If she had told me right away, I might have forgiven her. But I found out when I went over to her house one day. I was supposed to be working, but I got the day off and I was gonna suprise her. But yeah, guess what I walked in on! She said they had been doing it for 2 months. 2 months! I actually havent gone out with a girl since then.

It's just like that where even if I haven't met sum1 or only were to know them just a little having said that can just do wonders. Like at work, people come in with having to deal with losing a friend, family member, loved one and going through a hard time I still tell them I'm sorry for what happened & work to help them where they have to go through the process of proceeding to a burial or cremation with as painless and efficent as possible. Even just around and about saying sorry to anyone going through a hard time or having trouble can just make the difference in them turning their day around and giving yourself self-satisfaction in making an influence in someone else's day. ^_^ (Especially since I too can be put as 'stoner', really sorry about that whole deal man!)

I always carefuly go over everything I say before I say it and I don't talk very much to begin with so this doesn't happen to me very often. But if I say or do something wrong I would say sorry, but if I don't think I did something wrong then I won't appoligize for it even if other people think I was the one at fault. If they want to hate me for it they can hate me for it I don't care, I not the kind of person who cares if people hate them or not.

I don't apologize; if i make a mistake then I pay for it but rarely do I ever say that I am sorry. I intend to do 98% of the things I do and if it doesn't turn out well it's my problem to fix.

I mostly avoid this problem by not being in the wrong about anything. ;)

Seriously, I make an effort to think before I talk in serious situations and that avoids a lot of things I could do that would necessitate apologizing for. Mostly my problem is when I offend someone by making a joke of something they take seriously or saying something in a way that can be interpreted not the way I meant it. In those situations I do tend to apologize, unless I think the other person is being unreasonable (or just deserves any unintentional insult anyway). I've noticed that something like 75% of people don't really want to accept apologies of any sort anyway, they've already decided they're mad about something and logic no longer enters into their point of view on the subject.
