I'm kinda surprised at all the bashing on the movie. I mean in comparison to the Blair Witch Project (Which I didnt like) I think this movie was much scarier and was put together much better than BWP.

Considering the budget. I mean they shot the whole movie in a week and look at the impact its made.
Its not the kinda movie that's scary while your watching it (It's nerve racking though) it's the kinda movie you think about when you wake up in the middle of the night when your home alone, or when your driving down a long dark street at night. It's how it plays with your imagination that makes it scary.

In fact I think thats the true mark of a great scary film. It's the kind you think about later. I've never watched a film and been actually scared while watching it but its the feeling I get after that makes it scary. But thats just me so I dunno how you guys work...

I mean what is scary to you guys, film wise?

The "Epic Movie" movies

This movie didn't scare me at all. The only thing that made me jump were the annoying teenage girls that screamed at the most pointless parts.

Overall, I just found it amusing [a small percentage of that amusement being good]. It's not really a scary movie though, unless you're easily frightened.

I give the movie 5 out of 10 stars for effort. Even that's being nice though. I don't recommend wasting money on it. Just wait for the torrent if you feel you absolutely need to go see it.

I mean other than the screaming girls in the theater when the movie ended, the others [an older crowd] in the theater were sitting in their seats with a puzzled look on their face as if saying, "Wait.. what? That's it?".

lol, I'm watching it right now (it's 5 a.m in the morning here, been watching it for 1 hour and 23 minutes), and I must say, some shit are quite scary, the Oujia (or how you spell it) was freaky but...

But in general I think it is a good movie, gives some frights when you watch by yourself like I am now, would probably mostly give lulz if I watched it with a friend. Still, a it's an OK movie.

EDIT: ... well, the end was... Not very good. Mah, was interesting enough.

I'm not going to go into why this movie is great, especially considering the budget, because it's already been summed up in this thread.

While it isn't scary, its definitely creepy and entertaining (if not, you you have no imagination). I can't remember feeling so anxious and fixated while watching a movie (I'm referring to those bedroom scenes of course - like a movie-mindfuck).

Go see it.

I've seen a lot of bashing towards this movie since it came out, and one question keeps swirling through my head:

Is this movie isn't good, then what is a good horror movie?

It seriously seems like, if you cannot enjoy this movie, then you cannot enjoy any horror movie, except for the gore porn movies like Saw and Hostel (which I hate to even call "horror").

I hear people complain about horror movies not being subtle and spelling everything out to the viewer. Then, a movie comes along that does not do that, and people still hate it? I just don't get it.

I can only think that it was the hype that did this, and a lot of people do complain about all the hype. "It didn't live up to the hype." Nothing could live up to the hype they dumped on this movie, but the way it was advertised had nothing to do with the actual film.

I would have preferred if this movie had stayed relatively unknown and only gotten released on DVD. If that had happened, I'm sure this would have become a cult classic, and then every time its name was mentioned, a shitstorm wouldn't ensure.

I just saw this crap. Not in theaters of course, why waste money I could use to buy a video game that wouldn’t suck later. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I thought this movie was shit. I don’t know if this was the right movie since there was no title, but it starts out with some douche and his new camera, right?

How the fuck can you people seriously think this is a horror movie? WTF! This movie is fucking pathetic. I’m highly tempted to call the viewers who thought it was scary as shit the same. That girl though, she’s got some big ass titties.

Speaking of that bitch, why is it always the woman who loses her shit? What's with this cliche that women are governed by their emotions and throw logic out the window at the first sign of trouble. God dammit!

I still say, if anyone thinks it's bad, then name one good horror movie that's come out in the past five years.

QFT, but I think Room 408 is the best horror flick I've seen in the past 5 years. I haven't seen PA, but I'm not impressed by what I've seen in the previews either.

Yup, as people already said, this movie was a sad excuse for a horror movie. I mean, not only is poor quality, bad acting(Especially the girls friend, just what the hell man?), just plain sucky; there is not a single even remotely scary scene in this entire movie.
This is saying alot, since i'm quite easily scared. ;/

Saw this movie about a month or 2 ago.
Waste of my time. It was predictable in a way.
My friends said that the Theater probably added to the atmosphere, but I doubt it. It seemed more like it had more of a surprise element than horror.

They should title these types of movies "Surprise" movies.
