problem of unknown origin

Hmm, right now im in a relationship and its so far gone off without a hitch. to put it simply things are great. the problem is that she recently informed me of a doctors apointment she has but not the reason why. shes stated that its an embaressing problem yet periodic problem she has and has had for a number of years. just trying to get in to see this specialist took about a year. before you ask no its not her period. shes rather open about that.

this all tells me its a not a particularly uncommon issue if the specialist is in such high demand. but sinse its periodic and embarressing i cant think of what it could be. btw shes about 21 years of age. any thoughts on this issue? maybe an idea on what the problem could be?

Whoa that's a difficult one there, honestly it could be a dozen different things. Diseases, ailments, physical problems... The list goes on, with these details I can't really tell you anything. (If I had some more information I could possibly help you with the things I picked up on my med courses.) If you could tell me what kind of specialist it is she's seeing then perhaps you can find out more.

But in my honest opinion, you shouldn't pry deeper in it. You two are both an good relationship, as you've stated. Eventually she'll tell you when she feels ready for it, so I say don't go search for what it is. She feels insecure revolving the subject, I think it's up to you to caress her and make her feel accepted even while you know she has that "ailment".

I'd say, tell her that you understand and that if she's ready to tell you that you will gladly listen.

@Granth: to late i already did that. im not prying but i do worry and i would like to know more. and no i dont know what kind of specialist.

@waynoinsano: doubt it. as i said she was so embarressed about it originally that aparently it took get several years just to share it with her own mother

i havnt however noticed anything that could be wrong or any abnormalities from her. she said it was an off an on thing. i have no idea what kind of frequency. but yeah it does seem to upset her talking about it. toss some ideas out there and ill do my best to compare notes okay? keep in mind it has to be something easily concealed from close family for years and periodic by nature, not to mention something that is emotionaly jarring.

Honestly finding a list with periodic diseases which people tend to be shameful about is hard, really hard. If I had any symptoms then I could help you but otherwise I'd just be doing a wild goose chase.

hmm, something along those lines did cross my mind... im not prodding her but yeah ill stop. thanks for the opinion. gues all i can do now is wait and watch.

edit: she told me about how the apointment went and aparently its very minor and nothing much to worry about. she still didnt say what it was but im somewhat relieved. i kinda guessed whatever it was couldnt be very prominent sinse anyone who knows about it had to be told by her including her parents.

Ugh. I hate those so much. My doctor lied to me when I got my first and only one thus far.

"We're just going to peak in and make sure everythings okay"

In any case, even I've had a situation where I've had to go to the doctors over something rather embarrassing and don't like to tell people. She might just be uncomfortable with it, it you're in a new relationship she may feel you might make fun or her or find it gross.

I wouldn't worry about it, in time she'll tell you. Or you can make it clear that you won't judge her that you're just concerned for her well being.
