Psionics

So...I remember back in 2004 during a trip to the Philippines, I discovered the concept of psionics. I usually believed it was either total bullshit or that you had to be born with it. After some very minor experiences with it, I began researching it, though I have neglected my research recently. Still, I really would like to learn psionics or at least some form of psionics, but I lack both time and resources. Usually, it's suggested that you find some sort of mentor, but I'm unable to do so.

Now then, has anyone ever had experiences with psionics or even become successful with it at all? I've heard people opening their third eye around here and that seems to be connected to psionics somehow.

Sounds easy to prove, but it's hard to find proof of it. I've heard of books that detail true stories of people using psionics, some even in a laboratory setting, but I've never been able to track any of them down. (And I cannot recall any of the titles now, to boot.)

I'd love to learn that telekinesis and telepathy was real, but at the same time, I'm kind of scared of such things being real. Imagine the destructive possibilities. What if you had an ex-girlfriend with telekinesis who was really mad at you? (Shitty example, but first one to come to my head.)

Telekinesis might be bad, but a worse situation would be if she had Telepathy. She would be able to read all of your thoughts and, in an absolute worse case scenario, control you like a puppet master with a marionette. She could even force you to commit suicide without you wanting to do it.

Telepathy really worries me when I think about how it could be used by a government or military. They could scan your brain to see if you harbor any anti-government thoughts at all and kill you on the spot.

Psionics huh? Well in theory ALL humans should indeed be born with it. Now I'm a realist so this should indeed be a lot coming from me but the concept is simple. That we human beings have powers left from our feral ancestry and in order to recreate these "abilities" we need to either be born with more power than normal or use an extreme amount of physical training (that in most cases would nearly destroy an average man, I'm talking Shaolin monk training.) Anyways supposedly to start out in this "mind game" I'll use for lack of better word you need to imagine a green ball of KI in your hands and after enough time of practice it should actually appear. But hey don't take my words too seriously, after all I'm a realist that just has an open mind as a scientist as well.

They say that the human uses less than 10% of the brain's capacity. And remembering the anime Night Head Genesis, if perchance we were able to unleash that hidden potential of over 10%, quote-on-quote we'd be able to use psionics.

According to Starcraft, Terrans developed psionic abilities due to a change in genetic structure when the 4 carrier ships were in transit in exile. Perhaps further manipulation of DNA can enable the use of psionics.

Like others, I'm not closed to the concept of psionics. It's just that so far I haven't seen any real cases with my own eyes. I do imagine it would have to do with the delicate balance and control of electrons and charges that will enable attraction/displacement.

That belief and as well as the belief that humans only uses 20% of their total muscular capacity so that we won't hurt ourselves by using to much strength (like Rock Lee, lol); both has been scientificly proven to be bullshit and is nothing but a myth.

@Ethil: perhaps I should have clarified my opinion. I believe that humans use than 10% of the brain conciously. The rest is dealt with other functions on a unconcious or unaware state. To be able to command over 10% of brain function conciously could lead to the development of psionics.

But wouldn't that mean that you cancel out another function of your brain then to focus on this? 100% of your brain is used at all time, not only by your memory and thinking progress, but also all of your 5 (or more, depends what you count in there) senses are always controlled by the brain, as well as other functions. If you then stopped using your sense of smell and taste, would that help you read other peoples minds? I'm skeptic...

@Ethil: how would conciously controlling a function cancel out or stop another function? Knowing something doesn't mean I've stopped controlling it. It just means I'm aware of it, and perhaps stopping a function to focus on another will enable psionics. Then again, we are talking about a subject matter that's a gray field, so by nature everything is questionable.

I'm suggesting that perhaps in conciously controlling over 10% can lead to heightened control over your body functions, particularly those that are part of the unconcious state. I suppose I'm leaning toward the further development of the 6th sense rather than out-and-out psionics such as telekinesis/telepathy.

@g-money: I'm not sure what you're getting at. Tell me first what functions that we are conciously controlling with our brain, except perhaps for the movement of our limbs, and how we possibly could learn how to control something as uncertain as our 6th sense? We can of course control our breathing if we want, but that is still just simple muscle control. And even if we don't want it to, our breathing will continue even in a unconcious state...

As I said, I'm not sure what those '10%' that you are refering to are.

Ofc all of this is questionable, I'm not trying to put you down or deny what you're suggesting, I'm just trying to point out flaws in your argument. That's how a debate goes on and progress is made. Try not to be offended (I'm not sure that you are, just saying).

@Ethil: I'm not making an argument in case you're wondering. Making an argument in this situation would be useless since everything is questionable and debatable, and even my premise is questionable or not. I'm just stating that I don't believe that humans use more than 10% of their brains conciously. Using that premise, I'm hypothesizing that further and/or concious control of over 10% of brain function can lead to a development of the 6th sense (aka intuition, gut feeling, insight, deja vu, foresight, predictions - not the spooky horror stuff), and maybe what we call psionics. How this will come to be, I have no idea.

I do know for a fact that we do not conciously control many functions, e.g. our sensory system. It is uncontrollable, and the processing that goes with it seems automatic. If I wanted to stop smelling something, I can't shunt off the nerval pathways that control/lead up to the olfactory organ. I can pinch my nose and stop smelling altogether, but it isn't the same thing as switching it off mentally. On the other hand, we have motor systems that are controlled conciously, and it may not seem that way since it travels faster than one can perceive it. I type, and I am controlling the fingers that are typing these words, which is all conciously felt. Even so, many of our thought processes such as categorizing words or defining concepts or bridging concepts together are done on an unconcious level as we make connections automatically without having my conciousness forcing me to make the connection. So the statement, "We control less than 10% of our brain functions," seems plausible to me in light that we really don't control much of our brain functions if you think about it. Then again, this could all be bullshit until further research and evidence proves otherwise.

Now im not sure if this count but i recently began to meditate about 6 months ago and about 2 months ago i believe i entered a state simalar to the rem cycle of sleep but i was partially awake where i believe i entered a dreamscape of my own mind now i force myself out of this and for the next week i was extreamly unseteled and tired as if id gone through a huge mental strain. Now im not sure if i did actually do something or if i just feel asleep and had a rely tripy dream. I say this for u to take it how u interpret it
