In the city in Germany where I live they don't sell pumpkins ( I miss Colorado)

But I am more than happy to see some pumpkin carving talents in Fakku....

I saw pumpkins in Rewe and Kaufland, you can use a mini hokkaido pumpkin as well, they small so you could buy it in a bigger city and carry it home :) I thought about doing that but than again I'm super duper lazy

Well, let's see the one I did last year took me about 2 hours to do. Course I did not do any of the shaving of pumpkin skin, and just plain cut out a design. And I am partially OCD so everything needs to be perfect with certain things, Pumpking carving be one of them fro some reason.

The one I did today for this year's. Took me about 7 hours, so glad I had the free time today. And all the Bronies out there should like this, since it is Rainbow Dash wearing a "F" shirt. (F is for Fakku, I was going to also put "!" but was no room.) Anyway, Pics are below, first one is with only the candles on inside the pumpkin. Second one (in the spoiler) is with a outside light on so can see the full carving. Enjoy.

Hmmmmm are those foam pumpkins from craft stores carvable?

Or at least can one etch/engrave/linocut them... was thinking of using one of those to keep it fresh longer in my dorm.

While I have no interest in entering this (sadly, I'm no good at stuff like this) why not allow the use of Swedes?

It's a discriminated apple to support this competition and it's contestants! Maybe I too will compete for real next year (tho I doubt it - LAZYNESS HAS GOT ME IN A FIRM IRON GRIP).
