Cheating, but since I saw both Inglorious Basterds and No Country For Old Men over the weekend:
Inglorious Basterds - 8/10. Really fun movie, nicely shot and full of glorious violence and Nazis. However, some tired ideas + implementation from Tarantino, and a mixed bag of acting (the lead German officer was incredible, but some of the bigger names - Brad Pitt - just weren't).
No Country For Old Men - 9/10. Intense, refreshing, visually superb and well acted. The ending is undeniably a little underwhelming as a sort of cliffhanger, and in the context of the preceding action-packed sequences, but on reflection it's clever and rewarding.
Or someone who shares the same name, I'm not sure. I managed to avoid watching any trailers, so I was expecting something (or somebody) else. That aside, it was still an enjoyable movie, though the ending reminded me of Batman Begins.
Plot: A young autistic woman who discovers that she has the uncanny ability to absorb precision fighting skills just by watching martial arts movies. When her cancer-ridden mother's creditors come calling, Zen attempts to settle the debts by standing up to a hardnosed gang of criminals who have wrongfully swindled money from her family.
------
Plot isn't anything special, it's all about the action. Highly recommend if you're into martial arts flicks.
I need a life...Ive seen all but about 5 of the movies posted. Even Teeth! That movie was soo WIN!
I just went on a Johnny Depp binge and recently watched Sleepy Hollow. That movie was possibly the best movie I've seen in the past few years. Avatar was cool and all, but this movie was just so...out there. By the way, it was made in 1998, so it isnt new at all.
10/10 Wonderful, and i would recommend it to everyone!
5-6/10... It has a nice and original story to it, but I would hardly call those vampires... more like a simple genetic disease that happens to make humans similar to vampires... basically just blood sucking humans on steroids. Would've given it more since the story was original and fresh and the movie was well directed, but I'm VERY picky when it comes to vampires and these just didn't make it for me.
My fave vampires genres are Hellsing and Legacy of Kain.
So, if we they called them something other than vampires, I'd have given it an 7.5-8/10... Not a movie you couldn't afford to miss, but quite enjoyable if you watch it.
