I use GOM encoder to convert most of my stuff... not sure if it converts rmvb but its freeware, and most videos work fine with it... the only thing is for the first 10 seconds of the video the GOM logo is watermarked at the top right corner:
well, last week i discovered a trick with my youtube downloader (well, i download it 3 months ago. i don't know is there any update)
the conversion is very simple, you just change the extension (from .avi, .rmvb, simply any movie) to .flv and then convert it to .avi, .mp4 or else that listed in conversion list.
but the problem is, you will get a poor resolution of the movie, and this method will downgrades the sound, so, if you're not converting to portable media (mp5, ipod, or else) i don't recommend this method.
oh yes, be sure you have K-lite codec pack (media player classic Homecinema). this morning i uninstall the player and ended can't convert anything because of "not valid parameter......" beep.
another note : be sure you copy the file to a special folder for conversion purpose. the very first time i use this, i converted bleach eps 233 and by the time the conversion finished, the eps 234 is completely lost (can't be find in recycle bin)
oh yeah, i've never tried using another converter, so please try this and post in this forum
