should i make another attempt at this relationship

i had dated this girl a while back and she was quite frankly a wonderful girlfriend ...until she dumped me...the reason she gave me was i reminded her too much of her old boyfriend (i didn't press the issue...she either had gotten out of a bad relationship, lost said person in an accident ,was just giving me an excuse to dump me or whatever....either way i wasn't gonna prod for to much information. the relation ship ended rather abruptly and i took it pretty hard...on top of that we where set up by our friends so this caused some tension with the group (i.e. not wanting to get involved ,taking sides, awkward run in's at the mall and the works)
recently though one of these friends (who happened to be an ex of mine that ended on a good note and founded a long friendship after the break up)passed away in a car collision. she had just moved across country and the entire group just shut up stopped fighting pulled together and sent a flower arrangement paid for by all of us....things started getting friendly between everyone again and we all kept saying this had gotten a bit ridiculous considering how much it had divided the group...the girl i mentioned has been a friend since then and a few days ago asked me to try the relationship again...and gave me a bit of time to think on it
my problem is...she is a really great person and we are all pretty much back to normal (as much as can be expected with these events) and while would be delighted to give this relation ship a fresh start i'm worried that if it goes sour it may tear up the group again...i'm at odds with myself as to whether i should risk this...or just remain friends ...so i am asking for opinions before i make this decision

provided she has resolved her own inner issues,i dont see why not.This reminds me of my sassy girl though,the reminding her of her ex thing lol

The death of the friend would have made the group alot stronger and since it has happened before,it may not be as bad as it first happened.

Just go for it and see what happens.

I think because she approached you herself means that she's showing that she's ready for a new relationship, and has gotten over her previous boyfriend. You just need to make sure and confirm that she's ready and not doing this out any sense of guilt or whatever.

Aside from that I don't think you'd have much problems, seeing as you are quite willing and respected her reason for halting the relationship. I hope you'll take good care of each other.

thanks for the well wishes and advice tomorrow we're gonna meet up for lunch at a local diner we both like and go from there

I think that if you breaking up with someone divided your group of friends or whatnot, those that didn't stand by your side or at least manage to remain actively friends with you aren't really people you need to worry about losing as their not what one would call the truest of friends. So you might as well give the relationship a shot, if it goes well great. If not and people get distant again, so what? You can find better friends.
Also, condolences on the loss of your friend.

we went out to dinner and are back together. we are gonna go see a movies this weekend and it seems like it's gonna last. thanks guys.
