hmm these are good suggestions thanks for the help but i dunno anyone now how to do the text that has the inside of the leter moving but the word itself is stationary?

having a .gif image always degrades the picture. and looking at your current picture youve chosen, the quality is already really bad. so i suggest you not degrade it further by animating it. unless if youre doing it with flash, which can keep the quality, but will in turn make it into an .swf file.

Hmmm...,I'm afraid I don't understand what you are trying to get animated.
You are using a stationary pic with a word or phrase that also stays stationary, but the color of the letters changes? or is transparent? outlined? does a transition of some type?
How big is the final image to be? size of the Font?

What's the point of a gif that's static? Then you might as well keep it in jpeg and with higher quality.

I guess all those years of Art School have finally paid off.
As for whether it "should" be a .gif or a .jpeg, well I think that for small images that are not neccesarily "photographic", a .gif works just fine. In some instances even better than it's .jpeg counterpart. It will sustain the same bit quality (16 or less) at a smaller file size, thus it will load faster.
When I am doing design work and know that my final product will be a .gif, I usually work with the image as a high def .tif image. If I am working with something that will end up as a .jpeg, I usually work with a .bmp of it first.
I say potato...
